if they think they are going move real numbers at 400 they are crazy. just won't happen. if they need to take a bath on hardware to move units this time around, then they will. 400 is pretty much a non starter.

The guy is pretty much dead on.. More than $300 and it's already a stretch.

Personally I won't buy at $300, I will wait til it's $250, so by then Nintendo will have the Wii U settled in, hopefully... No missing features, or buttons, or add-ons or the stuff they ussually like to omit.

The same way they handled DSi/3DS to DSi/3DS transfers?

Hey that was my question I asked on twitter a while ago! Sorry, just thought that was cool.

do you really think Nintendo is going to put a home console out on the market for more than $300? especially a Wii successor?

@Darth VaderI would say $300 is the right price. $350 is fine, but it won't find as much success as it could. I severely doubt it's going to be $250

It'll be priced at $299. -_-

Anything higher or lower is not necessary. :|

I know everyone hates pachter because he has proven time and time again that he is a complete idiot. But there are times where a complete idiot brings up a few good points and this is one of those times.

I think they can manage $300, and only if they have a really good lineup. I'm quite sure that by the end of this year, a lot of people are going to want a new xbox/playstation because apart from bioshock infinite and GTA5, I can't really think of any killer titles coming out on the ps3/360, and if nintendo can ensure the wii u has a killer launch lineup they can get quite a few ps3/360 gamers on board, even at $300.

When is GT going to start using this segment's full name "Pach Attacks Nintendo." I mean, seriously, how many times has he talked about Wii U in the last couple months?

Didn't Nintendo make MKWii or Smash Bros. Brawl? I'm pretty sure those games have insanely popular online. Even third party games like Monster Hunter Tri and GoldenEye have sucked up hundreds of hours of my life.

It will be nice when they include lobby systems and all, but it's silly to pretend that something doesn't exist all together. You might not think a Honda is a "real" car compared to a Porsche, but... it's still a car.

$299 seems like the most logical price. $349 if it is bundled with a game. $249 if they plan on reducing profit margins, but want to get it into as many houses as possible. I agree that Nintendo need to get online right this time, 3DS shows us that they are actually trying, which is good. Not sure why he is getting all the negative ratings for this video?

300 has been my prediction since day 1. it's not changing now.

@motherbra1n,

I think the WiiU will be between $300-$350. Even without a killer lineup it will do well. The Tech is different than what's currently on the market. This will attract the tech enthusiast and early adopters. It also allows Nintendo room to make a price cut before the successors to the Xbox 360 and PS3 hit the market.

lets be fair, if say, xbox live is a porsche, then the wii's online is a 85 yugo.

I'm still in the $279.99 camp with a loss.

$300-350 is still plausible and possible, but somehow I get the feeling that after the 3DS Nintendo is willing to move the system at a loss in good faith that software sales will cover it.

Still think $/£250 with game bundles is the sweet spot myself.

I wish it would be 500$. It would be outrageous initially of course, but it has at least a year to drop its price to match the competition and it would ensure multiplatform compatibility, if not even surpass the competitors processing power. Also @250$ it will not have the horse power to force the HC peasantry to come back to Nintendo and the home run in the "blue ocean" is not 100% guaranteed to work this time.

The moment he was guessing the Wii U price, an earthquake happened.

@derula

Didn't seem at all like a joke to me. But, feel free to watch the video and let us know what you think.

@CrashMan

You're right on the money. It's good to see I'm not the only one bothered by comments like this. So many people, like Pach, seem to equate "weaker" online with "no" online, and it's baffling.

@gtt

Still gets you where you want to go. And, given the XBox example, with Nintendo, your '85 gets a free tank of gas every year (XBL sub fee)

400 will be a very fair price, considering all the awesomeness it's going to pack in. All the Wii controllers, a new tablet controller, and a super HD system. Probably a pack-in game too. They could go down to 300. They should have a killer game packed in anyway.

A console launched at 300$ in 2012 is doomed...Totally NOT future-proof and totally stating " I'm just like the other consoles, DON'T BUY ME!"...

Even if I want to pay less money, I really wish Nintendo releases this console around 400$,maybe more...That way, it is going to be a next gen console and not a 2006 joke!

I have precisely predicted the price for the Nintendo 3DS, so if my opinion counts even a little bit to anyone, I say it will launch at 350$ with a loss.

I don't think that's how things work. Thinking like that is why the 3ds costed 249.99.

@Chased If nintendo wants to succeed they need to price it at around $300. In this economy non of the big 3 can afford to release a 400-500 console. Only apple can do that for some reason. The system will be powerful enough to get support. Don't worry about that

$279.99, it will be sold at a loss with no pack-in game but it will have fun built-in software like Chase Me and maybe even New Super Mario Bros WiiU preloaded on the Flash memory. It will come with one WiiU tablet controller and a coupon for a discount (maybe 30% off) for a Wiimote+/nunchuk bundle that will be released at the same time for $49.99, $34.99 with the coupon.

It's not rocket science.
