He's got some nerve, Kojima has more talent than Nicalis' entire team ever had and most likely ever will.
Coming from a guy and company that is pretty terrible at actually making original games himself/themselves, that's pretty hilarious.
I'm always fascinated by the lack of courtesy of devs/publishers/"visionaries" nowadays when it comes to "Oh oh, I'm getting the opportunity to piss at the big guys' legs!" moments.
This guy needs to be quiet. Konami made Castlevania 64, one of the best games ever!

How would Pixel be part of Nicalis? Because they ported his independent game? That's incorrect.
They didn't *make* Cave Story, or VVVVVV. They just milked the games for money and brought them to Wii/DSi/3DS.

What if you don't count Pixel as apart of Nicalis? What if you consider that Nicalis conned Pixel out of the Cave Story IP and what if that same guy is whoring it out on anything capable of playing games. I can see where he's coming from, as Kojima is definitely not a game designer, he's a game director. That said in Japan games live or die on the person in charge of the project, so Kojima definitely has a strong understanding of design fundamentals, otherwise he wouldn't be Kojima. Story, on the other hand, he has absolutely no grasp of and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the plot of his games outside of the general scenario.
Man, indie devs are really having penis envy quite a bit lately....
Kojima should be making movies, not games.
The story is one of the MGS' biggest selling points.
The problem is that they're often times too drawn out and convoluted for an action game, hence all the "he should be making movies instead", comments.
What is it with companies/developers making 1 or 2 hits and all of a sudden can tell legends how to do their job.
I wonder if some Minor League AAA baseball player feels he can tell the Yankees how to run their team.

And I like Kojima's quirky little fourth-wall-breaking gameplay ideas, like setting your system clock ahead, or plugging your controller in a different port...but mean, his cutscenes and convoluted stories...and stupid crap like "Transfarring." Both Konami and Kojima need to lay off Metal Gear and get something good out.
The newest Castlevania game is pretty good.
And I'm not much of a soccer fan; but from what I hear the general consensus is that overall the PES games are the best you can buy on the market.

konami back in the 80s and 90s were one of the very best games developers. i like metal gear but i think they rely too much on solid snake. also, it's been a long while since a really good castlevania game graced a nintendo console.

I highly disagree with this. Personal opinion, MGS4 was the best game I've played this gen across all systems and MGS3 was one of the best games I've played last gen. Also Zone of the Enders was absolutely amazing.

LOL Funny that this guy is going off. I happen to agree with the sentiment that Konami, aside from the portable GBA/DS Castlevania games, hasn't put out a good game in ages. I've never cared much for the Metal Gear Solid series, and while I wouldn't say Kojima is bad at making games (that's a bit harsh), I WILL say the dude has no idea how to create a coherant or even interesting plotline. But that's just me. Konami's not alone though. Namco, Square, Capcom, Sega, a LOT of these old companies just don't seem to know how to make great games anymore. Not like they used to.
Well he should not state things in such a blunt way, but still I must admit I agree with him. Konami totally lost themselves a couple of gens ago. Now, they have very few interesting games in my opinion anyway. Just think that they used to be equal with teams like Square-Enix or Capcom, or even Namco. Now they just lost it, these teams have evolved whatever you may think, especially Capcom. Square-Enix is getting there and Namco still has some very good stuffs. Konami just became some second class japanese developper.
As for Kojima, I never liked the way he was starified by Konami right after MGS as if he was some sort of genius. This guy is nothing but a marketing push. I like some of his games, like the first and third MGS ans ZOE but even these are severely flawed.
Well ZOE is way better than MGS all things considered. But people just swallow whatever the media tell them. So yeah, they think MGS is the better series and Kojima is a genius because he made like 3 or 4 good games in 20 years.
