Capcom - No Resident Evil 6 on Wii U 'at this time'

"Unfortunately, RE6 will not be available at this time on the Wii U. Right now we're concentrating on the PlayStation 3 version, 360 version and the PC version of the game." - Hiroyuki Kobayashi, producer

Could the 'at this time' portion of the response hint at an announcement to come later? Perhaps a little something at E3? Let's hope that's the case instead of the Wii U missing out on this title altogether.

Well, that's fine. I would be excited to use the Wii Remote to play RE6, but not the tablet, really. I don't know how it would work where I'd be comfortable.

Going to be getting it for the 360.

The new trailer today blew my mind, and I can't express how many "I Told You So's" I am going to be handing out to everyone who thought Sherry was Ashley and that Wesker's son was random crap like Steve.

@warbearer

Then you've clearly watched neither of the trailers. It looks nothing like Call of Duty.

What are you even talking about?

This one is a Wii U deal-breaker for me. If we get a solid "No" on RE6, I'm buying a PlayStation instead. I'm really enjoying my Wii catalogue and 3DS is killer, anyway.

What's with all the minuses? That's a perfectly reasonable thing to do. It's neither a confirmation nor a denial.

@Conrad I would advise that you wait till e3. If it's not confirmed by then then it's not coming

Clearly they need to test the waters. RE5 port coming ?

One of the games that would convince me of getting a WiiU is now out of the question "for now"...

I dont expect a final answer until E3, Capcom probably couldnt announce it yet if they could, not only that but it looks like the game would be on the other systems well before the rumored Wii U launch date.

as for the game itself, I agree with @MoldyClay, LOL @ anyone who thought that girl was ashley and jake (wesker Jr) was HUNK

well ok , once the wii u is released and they come up with the same stupid lines ... there was really no hope for their stupidity
but in any case , those games should have pointer aiming , having played perfect dark xbla the amount of auto aim is ridiculous . I've never seriously take attention to all that auto aim business , but seeing the cursor actually moving onto the target by itself , or slowing down uncharted 3 style , well hardcore gamers and their win button .

@Mirr0rR3flection

Precisely. Usually, there's reason to complain when they say "we currently have NO plans", but "at this time" suggest a whole different scenario. I'm hopeful. Particularly after the success of RE: Revelations.

@Mirr0rR3flection Indeed.

They probably have an early 2013 port in mind.

I can see a port within the next one or two years....

This is much different than Capcom saying it was not bringing RE5 to the Wii -- 18 months before it launched.

Given game development cycles -- as well as the enhanced controller -- I think there will be a lot of games coming out later for the WiiU than for the other systems, especially at first.

Personally, I have much more interest in AC3 than RE6 -- but I know that each person has their own gaming tastes.

I belive there was one developer who said that is not going to be hard to port games to the Wii U, so I guess this is no big deal then.

can't say I'm too fussed to be honest.

Honestly, I've lost interest in the franchise anyway. I actually got RE5 for free, and never played it. The rail shooters for the Wii were a bit lame, even for rail shooters, which I usually like, and I can't seem to motivate myself to want Revelations... the lack of Resident Evil 6 on a console I don't own yet and may not own for some time doesn't really bother me.

What does bother me, though, is that Capcom seems dead set on not putting out a single worthwhile game anymore.

Of course it'll come to the Wii U. Even them saying no doesn't mean anything since they're likely under an NDA until E3. Capcom will port their games absolutely everywhere, I'm pretty sure all that's standing between RE:R and the Vita are its sluggish sales.

I don't find this to be bad news. I say if anything it's great for them to get all of what they can get done on the game for only the current consoles now. All I'm hoping for is (if or more likely when the port does come) Wii U being much like the Wii was with RE4 and getting the best version out of all the systems.

You know, with all of these games not coming to Wii U, the system's third party support is already looking pretty weak.
E3 needs to turn this around, or I won't have any interest in Wii U any more.

@jasonmaivia

You mean how all devs are on NDA and they can't confirm any Wii U titles until E3.

The only reason AC3 was confirmed for Wii U last month and not at E3 was because at E3 2011 they already confirmed AC is now going to be on the Wii U so Nintendo had no problem Ubisoft announcing a Wii U version.

Oh and don't forget the first few years of the PS3 where not great, the Wii had better 3rd party support then the PS3 in 2006-2008.

NDA's are always on my mind, but like the Wii in the last generation, there could just be nothing special to show but a few exclusives and a lot of ports.

@bellboy

Fanboys can't stand the idea of not getting games they wouldn't have bought anyway.

Even though it was no confirmation or denial.

All negative news is definite; All positive news is speculation/rumors. Derp.

@Shaanyboi

This. Wii U will probably get a port. Heck, PC's listed as "coming at a later date", so it could be coming with the PC version.

Or we could get a GOTY edition later. The game has been in development since forever and unlike Ubisoft, they haven't had a magical dev kit to work the game to be Wii U friendly. I assume they need time to change the controls.

I mean, Arkham City is coming a full year late (or more?). It's never too late. Could come. But people who wanted it will probably have it already.

@honeybo

>didn't play RE5
>didn't play Revelations
>don't care about RE6
>say Capcom doesn't put anything worthwhile out

How about playing those first instead of basing it on 'what you hear' and what it 'looks like' and Wii rail shooters that were thrown together.

And the fact the only real Capcom games out recently were all fighters.

Operation Raccoon City was not made by Capcom, so I wouldn't use that as a basis at all.

I've never found any real problems with the series. I've been playing since the 90s and I feel like the bulk of the 'fanbase' has gone insane and is exaggerating/has no idea what they're saying.

@someone17

The Ashley thing was infuriatingly dumb because everyone was CONVINCED and saying it was WITHOUT A DOUBT "even the same voice actress".

I've heard that actress all over (besides RE4, she did the voice of Sandy on Spongebob and Cindy on Jimmy Neutron, etc) and it was blatantly NOT Ashley, yet they were set and not backing down.

HUNK was a little more believable than most theories.

Now everyone's coming up with more dumb theories. Including Ada being his mom, which wouldn't even make sense given his age and when Wesker would've even met Ada.

I still don't understand why they didn't bother implementing what worked in Revelations into 6. Resident Evil is a series that doesn't need online story co-op and stuff like that. If it were only for the inevitable Mercenaries mode, that'd be different, but no it JUST HAS TO work with the main story as well for some reason.

Why does Capcom feel the need to implement this into a game where survival horror should be the main theme? There's a reason why no one liked Dead Space 2's multiplayer. It literally kills the atmosphere..

Not everything needs to be a blind shooter... People have Halo, CoD, and Gears for that.

Oh, and don't get me started on how horrid of an idea having a "Wesker Jr." is...

I will be getting a Wii U no matter what, but I will be extremely disappointed if RE6 doesn't make it to the system sooner or later. I got to play RE5 on my college roommate's 360, but I'm not going to go out and buy one (or a PS3) to play this one, after being Wii only all this time.

Praying for an E3 reveal... :(

If Capcom announce Resident Evil 6 for Nintendo Wii U at E3 then Nintendo will win E3 2012 but even if they don't announce it at E3 Nintendo Will still win E3 2012

If they don't bring RE6 to Wii U... they are f***ing retarded! Damn you Capcom and your bullshit!!
