Pikmin Wii U will be at E3 2012

I can't believe it's finally happening. While we heard Miyamoto talk about Pikmin Wii U earlier today, another Nintendo rep has confirmed its presence at this year's show.

"In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Pikmin game will be shown at the E3 Expo in June. He believes that anyone who has played Pikmin games in the past will enjoy playing."

No more guessing, no more rumors. Pikmin Wii U will finally be on display! Thanks to all that sent this in.

I never got what was so great about the first one, but I'm interested to see what they do with this one.

Pikmin, strange as it will seem to most non-Nintendo folk, will be the game best used to showcase Wii U's graphics. Miyamoto's statements focusing on the game's visuals has given me some hope that it will be quite impressive when it's finally shown off.

FINALLY NINTENDO WILL BE ABLE TO SHOW GAME TRAILERS IN 1080P! Say goodbye to 2006!

Yes, I know. I was just thinking of what could be coming to us.
Last year's e3 was horrible if you wanted to know more about Wii games. E3 of 2010 was the worst.

As excited as I am to see Pikmin with gorgeous graphics AND in glorious HD, I can't wait to, you know, actually play it! :D

Make this game playable with the touch screen, Nintendo! It makes too much sense...

It's not going to be called Pikmin Wii U. It BETTER be called Pikmin 3. Get it straight.

And as I've said all along, this game needs to have the best of both worlds. It needs to have the utter lack of a time limit from 2, but it needs to NOT have the mandatory underground missions from 2. I think in some ways, Pikmin 2 was a better, more concise game, but I did appreciate the relaxed atmosphere and new Pikmin from 2. I just hated that you had no choice but to do the underground missions, where you could very well wind up losing rare Pikmin permanently, which sucks.

So hopefully...no more of that. Hopefully, it'll blow my socks, and feet, clean off.

People have differing tastes. But to me, what was "so great" about the games, was the exploration, plain and simple. The whole point of the games is having these great looking environments and this sense of "the unknown" to go explore, and collect objects, utilizing this pack of crazy (and hard to control) little plant creatures that (somewhat) do your bidding. I had never played or really even seen another game quite like it before the first released, and I honestly still haven't. Pikmin is a high underrated series, and I've been waiting for this sequel now for what seems like forever.

And considering how beautiful (for it's time) the original games were on GC hardware (better looking than many Xbox games), I can't wait to see how great the game's nature-based environments will look on Wii U hardware. Especially considering that Miyamoto has (uncharacteristically) stated that the main reason they even pushed it to Wii U instead of Wii, was because he wanted to take advantage of the HD graphic capabilities. I'm not a "graphics guy", but I still can't wait to see how gorgeous this game is going to be.

On the one hand, Pikmin is awesome (still need to beat 2 -- as with Little King, the final boss was a bit of a brick wall when going for a no-death run). On the other, this has been a rough generation for a lot of Nintendo's franchises. After Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Smash Bros, and Metroid, I feel somewhat apprehensive over seeing where Pikmin falls in regards to meeting expectations. :-/

I have a feeling that this years E3 for Nintendo will be one of their most memorable E3's of all time. REALLY looking forward to it!

They've been on a bit of a roll the last three years, honestly.

2009 - NSMBWii, Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Other M
2010 - Kirby Epic Yarn, DKC Returns, Skyward Sword, Golden Sun III, 3DS stuff
2011 - Wii U unveiled (or at least the controller), next Smash Bros. announcement, Pikmin 3 confirmed for Wii U, Kid Icarus unveiled, etc.

So yeah. I expect big things.

@Devil_Rising I guess I get why it was a great game for others, but there was something missing for me.. I'm not saying it was a bad game, I enjoyed what they did with the enviroments and the sounds were oddly great, that's why I want to see with what the come up for this one.

This is fantastic news. I'm really excited for this year's E3, even though I've been trying to keep my optimism in check just to avoid disappointment. But now I know Pikmin is a definite showing, I'm comfortable getting psyched knowing I'll get to at least see it finally.

you and me both, brother.. considering the fact that you cant find the gamecube version for under 40 bucks (used) anywhere

e3 2010 was the worst?! whaaaaat??

they showed off the 3ds, they showed/announced a slew of games for that. PLUS they showed off skyward sword, donkey kong country returns, kirby's epic yarn and golden eye.. i think all they needed that years was the 3ds announcement, the rest was just icing on the cake

Fixed.

I'm kinda excited for Pikmin. I played the first and love the graphics/gameplay, but I hate the time constraints. I never got to play the second, but I know they axed that lame feature.

Yes. 2008 was admittedly a dud, because they had Cammy Dunway do the presentation (Reggie is MUCH better), and because their main focus was Wii Motion + and Wii Sports Resort. It wasn't bad that they focused on those things, but it didn't help that Dunway was not a very good presenter, nor did it help that they really didn't have much else to excite long-time gamers, except GTA on DS. So that one was "blah". They made up for it the next year though.
