How is other m as big as the trilogy?

@Thebluepencil not too surprising, when you think about it. Epic Yarn has a lot of pre-rendered artwork.

Why wouldn't it be? All those hours of pre-rendered video take up space!

So there has to be a hdd for the system..or maybe they just ganna let us use any hdd..like wii uses any third party sd card..AWESOME..

Jeez, a fair amount of those Wii games were dangerously close to shipping on dual-layer discs, especially Skyward Sword.

Other M put in a lot of detail with those cutscenes. I am just shocked at Galaxy 2 takes up less space than Galaxy 1.

Because of all the cinematics and nonsense words from samus.

And this proves that NSMBW could've been put on WiiWare.

I hope Wii U gets Gamecube games in a VC type thing.

@LegendofSantiago

The videos.

I'm surprised Trilogy is so big, honestly, given that two of the game are Gamecube ones.

No, Wiiware has a .04 Gb limit, NSMBW is .36 Gb.

Well, the original was on a .032 Gb cart.

I'm surprised Galaxy 2 is so much smaller then Galaxy 1, what's up with that?

@MoldyClay

NSMBW is roughly 360MB according to those numbers, that's far too large for WiiWare (due to Nintendo's insane size restrictions).

I'm honestly surprised at how tiny Super Mario 3D Land is, it's less than half the size of Starfox 3D!

Well Galaxy had a lot of unused files in it, while Galaxy 2 was planned better. I read something about it in an interview...

Super Mario All-Stars – 0.03

This doesn't surprise me. :lol:

And that my friend is exactly WHY it's big. Gcn games are mostly 1 gb. And If you add Metroid Prime 3 which is a wii game(which is 4gb or so) It completely makes sense.

Also you fail. NSMBW is 0.36 GB or if you prefer, 360MB. How is THAT gonna fit in wiiware's restriction of 40mb?

NSMB Wii was 300 MB ... that far surpasses the 45 MB limit

Whoa, what a cool find!

Apparently, Skyward Sword is the closest to making the most of the single-layer disc space. And I'm surprised by how large Punch-Out!!, DK Country Returns, and WarioWare: Smooth Moves are. Can anyone be willing to bring up potential reasons?

Also, how is Rhythm Heaven Fever so small? I thought the music files would be pretty large...

@zeeroid
Really? I thought the game used polygons with high-resolution textures. Though I wouldn't be surprised if pre-rendered artwork was used... Also, doesn't voice-over narration use a lot of space?

@Olinad
I remember knowing about beta elements somewhere, but the combined quantity couldn't be that large, could it? Not to mention, Galaxy 2 had more orchestrated music, right?

So maybe this is the reason they wanted to stick two SD Card Slots in the 3DS, making it easier for costumers to expand their memory without having to resort to those superexpensive SD Cards with big storage.
So now I'm wondering just how much memory the Wii U will have and how it will handle SD Cards.

Wow... so much wasted Wii disc space lol. Also can't believe flagship 3DS titles like 3D Land and MK7 took that little space.

Wow! I could fit 20 copies of PilotWings on my SD card! ;D

well iirc, all those objects and textures were like high-res scans. I don't think that a lot of the assets were being rendered in-engine. Narration probably took up a bunch of space too :)

Its weird how some of the bigger Wii games take up nearly as much space as some HD games. Makes me wonder how just how clean (or rather unclean) Nintendo's development process is. Its gonna be fun to see how much they end up using with the WiiU.

Are these numbers just the game partition? The update partition adds (or removes) about 100 MB from these.

In any case Sakura Wars: So Long My Love is another huge one.

@PaperLink64
For a funny twist of fate, The Last Story PAL was dangerously close to being single layer...its game partition is 4.87 GB.

@Mirr0rR3flection
SMAS has got good company with Wii Chess :P

@MrGameBoy
IIRC Okami and Dead Space Extraction are pretty much right on the bubble. Though I might have ripped those one with the update partition intact.
