The story between nintendo and square is truly a sad one. it was arguably the main reason Sony got it's power and how nintendo lost a lot of support. For a moment square was my favorite developer, but other than their portable games they seem to have lost their way. Mario rpg is a truly spectacular game only bested by the paper Mario games. I do prefer paper Mario, but I would love to see the Mario and Luigi series to seem more like the original Mario rpg
I played this and Chrono Trigger back-to-back for my first RPG experiences.
After these, I could not understand what all the fuss about FF on the SNES was all about
(not bashing, recounting my true feelings).

Wait, are you saying that these two games made you not understand all the fuss? As in, these games aren't very good??

How is Sony getting power sad? Some of the best games are on the Playstations.
Never got to finish it during my childhood since I screwed up the game by pulling out some small metal things from the bottom of the SNES cartridge, but I finally got to beat it last summer after all these years. The feeling of doing so was incredible! :'D
Just seeing that screenshot made me feel all warm and happy inside. <3

No, he's saying that these were better than the SNES FF games, so he doesn't understand why people care so deeply about them... I think
I like this game, but I've always found the Paper Mario and M&L titles better. Not only in terms of aesthetics and narrative, but mechanics as well. And personally, I've never really cared for any of the Square characters. With that said, I definitely wouldn't mind them returning in Smash Bros. or even an entirely new Mario game.
oh meh gah, I was just thinking about this game before coming here.
when i first played smrpg i thought the sword was smithy. i was so psyched when i learned it was exor and that there was more to the game.

@KevinSays that's not what I said. I said that nintendo lost a lot of support because they lost square's support.
BEST GAME EVER.
Such an awesome game. ^_^

This game is on the pile of games i need to play. I don't even remember where I stopped, or what the story was even about.
I have yet to play this game, and my friend keeps bugging me to play it.
@Yarbskoo DO IT!!!!!!!
Nothing quite as satisfying as smacking your enemies with a frying pan with Peach.
Reaching 100 Super Jumps for the most overpowered piece of equipment in the game was nothing short of satisfying.
Played Super Mario RPG and DKC2 last summer for the first time via virtual console. It was an awesome summer.
One of my favorite games of all time! I really want Geno and Mallow to return!
