Capcom has put together their most recent Capcom Unity Official Podcast, and in the episode there's a heaping helping of praise for the 100,000 Strong for Mega Man Legends 3 campaign. Unfortunately, we also learn that the success of the campaign doesn't really mean anything for the revival of the game, at least in the foreseeable future.

There has to be behind the scenes reasons for this to have happend. It seems the only way your gonna raise capcom's brow is if you get 500,000 which doesnt seem likely.
Exactly as I said...
Oh Capcom... never change <3
I'm pretty sure they won't release it because there is nothing to release. Sorry guys, the game never existed. All the footage was literally just made to be shown to get fans hopes up.
What he said.
god just give us the effing prototype demo, jebus
Seriously, Just release the demo man
I'm hardly surprised.
Not surprising in the least. Capcom can't do a single damn thing right anymore. -Just release the demo- like you promised us.
The demo was complete, right? Why won't they release it? :/
Screw you Capcom. No Mega Man Legends, no Monster Hunter on 3DS. WHAT ARE YOU GOOD FOR?
Haha "Thank you, but no thank you!"
I would like to know the principal reason Capcom couldn't work it out with Legends 3; because seriously, from the footage shown the gameplay was pretty much already done and had a Metal Gear Solid 2/Kingdom Hearts 2-esque beginning, that and they even had the fan support it needed, they even accepted help from the fans to develop some aspects like the name of the new female character, the design of Rockman, a new boss.
Contradictory argument, maybe that's why they couldn't develop it further, they were dry of ideas... then what's the point of being a developer if you can't do it on your own!? Ahh Capcom, I would like to see you struggling for capital and resources because of your bad actions...
I would like it if the fans keep pushing Capcom and at least tell why they couldn't make the game.
im still convinced a big part of the megaman games getting canceled is capcom being bitter about inafune leaving.
Demo was complete (or at least very close to it), yes.
I really wanted this... never played a MML game before, and this looked really nice. Oh well... one day it'll come.
Actually do change. Please. Please change back to the way you were 10 + years ago when you're name made me giddy with excitement and joy as opposed to today where I now regurgitate in my mouth at the mere mentioning of your name.
Okay, I get that they think not all 100,000 people would actually buy the game. True, but for each of those who wouldn't buy it, there are people like me, who never joined their petition or whatever, but would still buy the game day frickin' one.
I'm sure they would sell close to a million copies worldwide. Maybe more with a little advertising. Sad to say, but I think I agree with the person who said it was done out of spite because of the whole Inafune ordeal.
Why capcom it's Megaman for goodness sake
Capcom-translatotron: "We don't want your money"
Still can't believe you guys actually would've bought a demo [of a game whose existence was always fluctuating]...
What I don't get is why they want the demo. It will probably lead to more disappointment knowing the game will never exist
^This x1000.
So Resident Evil 6 is looking good.....
Yeah, Capcom, from the VERY get go, had never, ever, EVER once said the project was green-lit. So, the game wasn't officially cancelled, the prospect was. I wasn't even a huge legends fan and I would've bought it just to support it, but if it fell through, there was probably a lot of reasoning behind it that people don't want to take the time to see.
It's generally not as cut and dry as "Let's just spend a bunch of money to get a team of people to work on a prototype and then just cancel it for NO reason later." If there is a reason, sometimes it's not made public, and we just have to accept it. Sometimes, it's almost easier to swallow a game not being announced and being cancelled, since that happens a lot more frequently, but Capcom did want to psych people up at the prospect only to find that even dev room interest was so minimal.
To be fair, my lose of hope occurred when I realized it took this long to reach 100,000. In fact, it occurred earlier than that when I never heard that the game was greenlit. At the same time it was dumb for them to not bring this out being that at the time the 3DS was in dire need of games, they could have very easily cashed in on the prototype then.
So I'll put it like this, capcom lost more money, over the fact that they thought they would lose money since interest was low, even though they as a company can't always rely on word of mouth. I can say for sure that they screwed themselves on this one.
Fans: We showed you that we support this game, we even helped with the development, so can you finally release it, please?
Capcom: NO! We won't give a f***, anyway
Capcom: It's your own fault, support wasn't there. Mega Man's death, deal with it, meanwhile, play as that horrible him on SFxT or as Zero in UMvsC3 and give us your $$$ for on-disc DLC.
