Latest 3DS patch/firmware killing off flash carts?

Here's one that shouldn't surprise anyone. It seems that either the Mario Kart 7 patch or the latest firmware update is killing off the use of flash carts. Obviously, Nintendo has been blocking this sort of thing from day one, but they continue to fortify their defenses through firmware updates. One way or another, if you plan on updating your 3DS, you're going to lose out on flash cart support.
