“If it does happen, it won’t sim-ship with the other SKUs, but if the opportunity arises we’ll take a look at it. As we got along in the development process, we just really wanted to focuson what we knew, focuson PS3, 360 and PC.” - THQ’s Global Brand Manager Mark Madsen
The game isn't completely shelved, as Madsen said that a port could still happen.

Sucks to be in THQ's situation right now, thats for sure.
Don't think THQ is going to last through 2012.
super lame.
That blows, I was really looking forward to this game on Wii U. Hopefully they still make it happen.
I hope this is a THQ thing... and not a Wii U thing... i mean we are not even at E3 and they are all ready taking games out of me x-x'
Yeah, I was looking forward to this one as well.
I'm not too big into FPSs but I did have a lot of fun with the original Metro on PC, and would definitely get a Wii U version without hesitation.
In the last video interview they stated they were going to ship the Wii U version at a later date. I took that to mean they were going to take some extra time to tighten it up graphically, but now it looks like they just don't have any money. Something tells me this game will end up being a stinker.
They're hurting for money, we all know the WiiU is going to be more powerful than both 360/PS3 so it makes no sense not to realease it on WiiU only to lose possible sales. So third parties are shooting themselves in the foot before the WiiU is even released. NIce. Good luck to you THQ.
Some games slated for new systems always get caned. I can remember games for the N64, Cube and Wii that were shown but never made it out the door. Don't despair, it's a problem with THQ, not the Wii U.
@chris_the_wing
Wit so because the ga.e isn't coming to wii u its going to stuck when the first game got good praise and prviews of this seem to be really good.
Good thing I have a 360
I think you're seriously overestimating how many sales they were going to get out of the WiiU version...
And how about next time RMC posts some Metro artwork we don't scrutinize it down to the bone and complain about everything. It seems every year before E3 we get a bunch of complainers who are happy with nothing.
I'd be upset, but they'd probably have left out pointer control options, so once again, it'd be completely redundant for me in the face of a PC release and a waste of the system.
This is annoying... I might as well just move to Japan where Wii U will be doing amazing, what with Dragon Quest X and possibly some form of Monster Hunter and such. I hate western devs. They think it's all about Sony and M$, and yet even with the stronger systems last gen, Nintendo sweeps the floor with them -.-... Dumb business choices are dumb.
Oh a puzzle, let me try this, I love puzzles
"Why so, because the game isn't coming to Wii U (that means) it's going to suck, (even though) the first game got good (reviews), and previews of this (new game) seem to be really good."
I'm expecting this sequel to be a disappointment because they are clearly running out of money & the videos I've seen have been far from encouraging. The lighting and shadows aren't even as good as what's seen in Left 4 Dead 2, and the over all presentation is way to dark. But hey, to each their own, just my opinion.
Metro was made by a small dev team, using their own (and pretty darn impressive) in-house developed engine on a shoestring budget, In the face of what they had to do, the game is quite admirable and it's actually quite a solid title in it's own right.
You'll notice I edited out that statement about the mediocre reviews, the PC had a meta score of 81%, that's positive, my bad. However the videos we've seen so far have been less then cutting edge, even by 360 standards. Good on them for doing a lot with a little, but it seems like this time they bit off a bit to much.
It doesn't matter does it Debbie Downer? If it's an easy port, than it's easy money. If it took two guys to port it, they'd make bank, plain and simple. Just like last gen, yeah the Wii was underpowered but in the right hands amazing things could be done. Developers were just lazy and looking for a quick buck. Same thing.
Looking at Last Light on the XBox is not optimal, I am expecting the game to either look like crap or choke on the details for the Xbox, the hardware was barely able to handle the original, let alone a souped up sequel. Metro was a PC game really, and it shines there, the extra Wii U beef could possibly have done it justice but I don't know, we'll have to see what happens.
..you mean a company wants to reap the greatest reward with the lowest financial investment? Wow.
It's called being realistic, and yes, it does matter. THQ is in trouble lately, and the WiiU is a platform that's trying to sell itself with games that people can already play on systems they already own (unless they ONLY have a Wii, but really, that may as well count as having missed out this gen entirely). Neither the WiiU, or THQ are in the best positions.
And there is more that goes into porting for the WiiU than just "two guys". Just putting in that line of code to run the game on the bottom screen as well would be just as lazy. If they wanted to do a good job, they'd have to redesign the UI around this added screen, take into account the motion features if they were to use that, touch etc., all while still trying to be true to the experience of the core game. So no, it's not this quick easy thing.
A 3rd party said they were bringing something to a nintendo system and then decided against it? That's not familiar at all.
I was probably going to get this day one... their loss if they don't bring it to Wii U. From the buzz about the range of titles available there should be plenty of other games to buy anyway.
What confuses me is the guy from THQ said they are working on a Wii U version, I believe it's coming but it's just confusing right now.
What the hell? =S
It'll probably be on Wii U, but later
