Hmm...I think its interesting that Pacther this time actually says that the Wii U looks to be more powerful than the 360/PS3. I was never really sure I'd see that day.

I really agree with most of what he says! I know sometimes he's kind of a jerk, but he's spot on in this video. I don't understand why are there so many people "not liking" this video. Do people only care when critics praise Nintendo?
I think some people need to open their eyes and agree that, unfortunately, things are not looking that great for Nintendo. And it's thanks to our criticism that things will get better. I hope!

Have to agree with pretty much all he says in the video with a few expections.

The Vita needed o be shown more. Sony is in a financial state where they cant rest there laurels and have a product bleeding money.

Wii U is certianly coming in 2012 and I'm expecting it too get a lot of somewhat lacking ports of the 2013 onslaught. Think PS3 getting early ports.

I'm still thinking and could be wrong that both Microsoft and Sony are pushing for next year for next gen. Just makes a lot of since looking at Microsoft's stragety.

Have to agree with him about Sony new ip being a good thing but I don't think they will sale well. Sony had put out a lot of games in the spring before and they don't do well and now the spring is crowded. Also Sony has a limited marketing budget and I'm sure beyond and last of us wont get marketed as heavily as the next God of war as well all three games coming in spring 2013 means too much overlap.

This guy is so annoying... Even when I agree what he is saying, I want him to be wrong because he comes out so arrogant and pretentious. Every single time he opens his mouth sounds like he is giving a lecture to us, poor mortals.

As many are saying, Pachter WAS actually pretty level-headed in this interview.

Of course, Geoff was there to bring the pain.

M: "Big announcement that Wii U supports two GamePa--"
G: "BUT THE FRAMERATE DROPPPPSSSSSSS!!!!!"

All I'm going to say is that iJustine is beautiful!
I'm not gonna bother commenting on the content of the video.

This was a pretty good discussion. Pachter made plenty of valid points.

However...yes the next consoles from Sony and Microsoft are going to pass Wii U by in terms of power...but unlike Pacther I don't think Wii U is going to be considered "outdated" because of that.
Nintendo worked with third parties to make certain that it's powerful enough and includes the features needed for them to develop games on.

@Barto

I think that people believe that when the next consoles arrive, the 3rd party devs will dump Nintendo as Nintendo did to Sony back in the days of the SNES...

"Oh, yes, you made what we wanted and we promised to deliver games for your system...Just forget it, we will deliver for Sony and Microsoft!"

The specs are supposedly fine for the developers but no one is asking these:

a)Are these specs what the 3rd party devs were asking for?
b)Were the developers having in mind the current gen when they were discussing with Nintendo?
c)Are Sony and Microsoft going to release some way more powerful consoles?
d)Are the 3rd party devs going to jump ships?

We take "a)" as granted. Now, if "b)" is the case and "c)" is even half true, I can totally see "d)" happening!

No problem with people saying criticism on Nintendo...it's just when you hear mostly criticism, and I mean some really silly and misleading ones, do fans really get upset. Nintendo ain't perfect, but they do try to do what they can. They try to be innovative on their systems, and what do they get, criticism on how it will fail, or not innovative, or just ignore what they are trying, and that they are offering HD level graphics, one thing people criticized with the Wii, and point out how the Wii Controller Pro is a rip of the 360 controller.

Look, yes, it does look like a 360 or similar....but heck, after all the innovative stuff they do try, and get criticized for, then gets copied when they proved it works, people defended those companies for copying Nintendo. So way I see it...if you can let Sony and Microsoft turn around and copy Nintendo's ideas, then you can let Nintendo copy an idea as well....like with motion controls and their version of Miis.

Microsoft was great at brining Kinect...though not my cup of tea...I like buttons for games...and using it to change channels cause you are too lazy to pick up a controller and press a button is just sad, not great. Kinect is great where it is great...dance and exercise games, games where they use motion gaming in a cool manner.

Sony has that Home feature...and I admit I like it...don't use it alot, but some times is fun to roam around and stuff.

Both had better online then Nintendo....though I never had a real bad experience playing Nintendo online, but sure, if it can be better go for it. I would personally love Nintendo to create a PS Home type environment....like having Nintendo franchise themed areas, and even getting companies to contribute special areas here and there. Use parental control to keep underage gamers outta mature themed areas.

People was fine to them copying Nintendo, but when Nintendo does it, it's suddenly now wrong to copy an idea.

wtf is this? It was all doom and gloom in the follow up to E3, when developers had nothing but great things to say about the wii u, when it looked like nintendo were seriously taking feedback on board with all the social aspects, online connectivity of the wii u and supporting a nice updated classic controller for multiplatform games. Now after that god-awful press conference, all of the sudden the mainstream media (most) feel the need to jump to nintendos defence and say that the press conference was decent and nintendo fans just expected too much.

please PLEASE nintendo for your own sake, delay the launch of the wii u until it has a good software lineup, cos as of now it is DOOMED.

specs dont matter in terms of getting games or selling systems

um.. two things. the launch lineup is pretty great, if you havent checked out the full list.. i urge you to do so. especially when compared to every other system launch.. it is probably the best. hell, even the older ports are still great games. i dare you to show me a better system launch lineup. . and the second thing is.. who says their isnt a good software lineup? nintendo focused on software coming out in the launch window.. at thats it. we know there is more coming out than they showed. they didnt show aliens.. but we all know thats coming out as well as other third party games that werent shown but are slated for release. i think it would be silly to just ASSUME there isnt good software coming down the pipeline.

Wii U won't be ignored by third parties if their games sell. And we won't have another Wii situation, due to it having a modern feature set in tech. Too much hyperbole going on there.
Also, lol Jet Pilot.

I actually met Pachter at E3. I wanted to ask him some silly off-the-cuff question and watch him BS his way through it, but I didn't.

@motherbra1n

Mainstream media doesn't usually gel with what hatdcore gamers want. While wii u had gotten some confusion I honk that and smartglass are going to successful and the wii u and 360 will own he holiday season.

OK so Pachter just earned a bit of respect from me (a very tiny bit). I don't think I've ever seen him sound so rational. And I mean that in a general sense. Not just on the Nintendo aspect of the interview. Geoff was the jerk this time around.

Another good show, have to give Pachter extra props for being dead on about this E3.

Geoff is always taking jabs at Nintendo. I have never seen him do the same with the other consoles. At least Pachter was not going along with him this time. He seems to be taking a wait and see stance when it comes to Wii U.

and frankly, he's the only one with any balls to ultimately tell Reggie "Hey... what the f*** happened at your conference??" I'd rather him be super critical than let them get away with the dumb s*** that they do.

I don't like how Geoff always seems on the verge of laughing his ass off everytime he is talking about Nintendo, with a smirk that seems to say: "Lol, nintendo".
