Super Mario Bros. Crossover 2.0 gives birth to Super Retro Squad

The trailer above is for Super Retro Squad, which happens to be from the same team that made Super Mario Bros. Crossover. It's clear that their tinkering with classic NES sprites and gameplay has paved the way for their own pseudo-original product. Can't wait to see how this one turns out! Check out the Kickstarter here.

Gotta love talented and passionate guys like him who are mostly in it for the love of the games. I want to see Exploding Rabbit take off and become the next Wayforward or Renegade Kid.

I think it's a little unfortunate that he went "halfway" to original instead of all the way. The crew is talented, and I'd like to see them tackle new ideas, not repainted old ideas.

As much support as this has an as much work as gone into adding the different characters into SMB for his project, this just comes off as kind of a "get rich quick" attempt by passing off a Super Mario Bros as an 'indie retro game'. I know it won't be a popular opinion, but that's just how I feel.

Watching the video and reading the comments, I can safely say I support Exploding Rabbit. Good luck to him, and I hope the game will be awesome :)

Sounds awesome, but I just hope the characters aren't just re-sprites of the classic characters they're based on.

Wow. I'm glad you said it. All I have to do is agree with you now.
