A portion of a Siliconera interview with Ichiro Hazama, producer...
S: Do you view Theatrhythm as a series now? What series would you want to work with… Manarhythm? Theatrhythm… Hitman?
IH: [Laughs.] Personally, I hope this will be come a series, but Theatrhythm Hitman will probably be really far off. There are many series that I would want to work on for Theatrhythm. Dragon Quest has a lot of music and Kingdom Hearts would be wonderful to do if it’s possible. I’m not to familiar with the Eidos collection, but Tomb Raider has a long history so it must have a great collection of songs. That might be fun.

Comment of the week right there.
A company wants to make a franchise out of a profitable game? WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?
Just when I finally cleaned my house... Of barf.
GIve me Dragonrhythm or give me death.
Kingdom Hearts has GREAT music.I'd love to see it done.
as unlikely as Theatrhythm Hitman is... it would be hilarious to see chibi Agent 47 skipping along while Ave Maria plays, then shooting at targets in time to something dramatic.
If Theatrhythm Dragon Quest could happen... what about Dissidia Dragon Quest? And it would probably be on 3DS or Wii U, since Dragon Quest is being exclusively Nintendo for now...
I'd love to see Theatrhythm Dragon Quest, myself, even if I wouldn't play it. Manarhythm might be interesting but, again, I wouldn't play it. Final Fantasy was the only one that peaked my interest. Dragon Quest and Mana have, maybe, three or four notable and memorable songs out of the whole batch of games they produced for it? No offense, but if they're going to do a Theatrhythm of either of those games, it might be better to pack 'em together.
On the topic of Dissidia Dragon Quest, I don't see that happening, either. Dragon Quest has the distinct issue of having characters that aren't particularly memorable or, worse, a total lack of main characters that you're not supposed to associate with or that even have much personality. It's why I chuckled to myself when they released Fortune Street over here with Dragon Quest characters. I can just imagine the meeting for the first time they put one together.
Executive 1: "I know, let's make a board game like Mario Party, but with no minigames, but let's cooperate with Nintendo to get Mario characters in it!"
Executive 2: "That's just not going to float properly if it's just Mario characters.. I know! Dragon Quest characters!"
Executive 1: "I know someone who's going to get a raise! Let's think of all the awesome Dragon Quest characters we can put in the game! Slime, Heal Slime, Mottled Slime, Slime Knight.. uhm.. Jessica..?"
Executive 2: "BRILLIANT! GREEN LIGHT IT IMMEDIATELY!"
Mmm. Square, you so silly. While we're at it, how about we make a Dissidia Dragon Fantasy Saga, and throw in some 7th Saga characters while we're at it. Or, hey, while we're in the realm of ridiculous fantasy, Dissidia Shining Fantasy Quest. Work with Sega and put in some Shining Force characters!
Man, I could go all night.
Fortune street has actually been around a long time, before Enix merged with Square even. It's considered a Dragon Quest spin-off, and crossed over with Final Fantasy before Mario.
Best FF game since FFIX.
Man, why does everything need to be a series these days?
We need a nintendo Theatrhythm Take my Money.
I hope so. I want to see a Chrono Series game next. I preorder Theatrhythm long time ago just to support the idea of the game and hoping they will eventually release the sequel based on chrono series.
I'd love to see a Dragon Quest from this. And a Chrono one while we're at it.
This game really is fun, so yeah, I'm sold!
Unfortunately, I'm aware of that, but it just seems like them releasing the one with Dragon Quest characters instead of, say, Final Fantasy characters, kinda doomed the game to mediocre sales, but that's just me. I guess it's pure convenience factor.
@Kittenkiller5000 Because sequels sell - why else would they be the main thing, this gen especially?
I concur on a Nintendo [Mario, Pokemon and or Zelda] and KH Theatrhythm too.
Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts and Chrono Trigger/Cross would be great additions. Regardless of what Square's become these days, they had WONDERFUL music.
I'd even take "The World Ends With You".
...
No, you don't understand. Except for the first entry, ALL Fortune Street games had Dragon Quest characters in them. There is no Fortune Street with only Final Fantasy Characters.
