In response to folks who are claiming we only "market" HD titles elsewhere in this thread (where often "marketing" is confused as TV campaigns and everything else is ignored), we had significant television and online buys backing MH Freedom Unite on PSP (how many PSP titles had a TV campaign, even first party?) and our largest Wii TV campaign on Monster Hunter Tri (larger than several multiplatform HD project campaigns we've run) and a number of MH "university" and other community/media outreach programs to teach people about the franchise. There's been no shortage of marketing effort on our fronts. As I've stated many times, growing MH in the West is a strategic initiative for us. Admittedly, the timings of things haven't always worked out exactly as we'd hoped but all will become clear soon enough. As I've said before, there is method to the madness. - Christian Svensson, Capcom
I guess the marketing HD claims come from people that feel Capcom didn't/doesn't promote their DS/3DS/Wii/PSP games? That never really came across my mind, but maybe I was just being ignorant.

The only examples are MH...
Honestly, this made me think, outside of game sites (banner ads, "reviews" which are really ads, and such) I don't really see much game marketing at all. maybe it's just me.
Just put your money towards bringing us the damn game first capcom ;). I'd like to hear what this "method" is..and advertising has never really affected my decision to purchase anything, I never saw the tri commercials on tv either
I don't remember ever seeing the PSP commercials and I'm pretty sure NINTENDO was responsible for the MH Tri marketing.
I don't know how they think, that they have any defense for this? It's pretty much a stone cold fact, that they don't advertise their games on Nintendo systems at least. Prime example this year, came in the form of the two RE games that they put out. RE: Revelations on the 3DS got absolutely no TV ads what-so-ever from Capcom. In fact the only ads it got came from Nintendo themselves, with their "Play The Best Games Now" campaign, that only showed RE:R box-art in it at the end. Meanwhile a month later, you couldn't turn on the TV without seeing the RE: Raccoon City commercials all over the place. I would see it like 5 - 10 times a night on all sort of different channels.
So they market the crap out of, that piece of garbage, but they just left RE:R to fend for itself. Then they have the gal to say that Nintendo fans only buy Nintendo games. Well maybe that's the case, because Nintendo actually advertise their games to people. I see the 3DS commercial with the two Japanese girls whipping the three grown men at Mario Kart all the time. Capcom just don't advertises their games on any Nintendo system. Look back at all the Capcom games on the Wii that failed. None of them had any marketing put towards them what-so-ever. Then think about ever HD that Capcom made. All of them, no matter how SH!TTY, all got TV ads.
They all cost more to make, a lot of them turned out to be crappy games, but they all still got marketing. Capcom put out good games on the Wii, they got good scores, and they still got no advertising. So Nintendo fans got blamed for only buying Nintendo games, but 360/PS3 fans don't get blamed at all for poor Lost Planet 2 sales, or poor Dead Rising 2 sales, or poor Bionic Commando sales. Nope no one gets blamed for that. But Nintendo fans get blamed for poor Zak & Wiki sales, or poor Tatsunoko vs. Capcom sales, or poor Ōkami sales. Well maybe if people knew that those games existed, then they might of bought them. But if you don't advertise them, then how is "Joe Public" suppose to know that they even exist in the first place?
Why does Capcom still talk about Monster Hunter when there hasn't been a new game in the series in the West since Tri?
Why does Capcom blatantly lie too?
Why doesn't Capcom shut its mouth and restructure itself?
@PEICanada7 not only that but they announced re6 before the game came out further hurting the sales
they don't advertise at all , the recent re 3ds total lack of coverage is a clear proof .
But about the monster hunter tri comment , like hell it received the same no wait... more ! than a multiplatform hd . it's bs , they spend forty millions dollars on dark void bionic commando for the dev cost . Nintendo promoted the game .... well i guess he's also telling the truth since he only refers to a vague multi hd game , we should understand that as the lowest one they did . And yeah i could see that being CLOSE to the truth .
Seriously they were airing more commercial for orc and re6 , it's ridiculous.
and i thought that guy quit , so disappointed to hear of him again to once again bash a part of their actual consumers . It's not professional at all
Capcom has tv marketed Tetsunoko vs Capcom, MH3 and Super Street Fighter IV 3DS. But did that help with sales? If not, stop tripping about them not doing enough. Its just the fan base and the console reputation that hasn't led to satisfactory sales.
@Lockdale I'm sure SF4 and MH 3 sold well. T vs C didn't though
Actually all three sold well, even though Capcom expected TvC to be dead on arrival.
@M1
Well that's good if true. Also, the reason why it seems like Capcom doesn't market none HD games, is because those are the platforms where their triple A titles go to i.e RE 5 instead the Chronicles spin offs on Wii.
Well to be fair the amount of marketing a product received is based on the perceived demand for said product.
If Capcom thought TvC was going to sell millions they would have put a huge marketing effort behind it.
@Autosaver
"I'm pretty sure NINTENDO was responsible for the MH Tri marketing."
Yeah, basically: Nintendo foot the bill for marketing Tri in the West in exchange for switching development of the game from the PS3 to the Wii. Capcom is being incredibly disingenuous here.
