I was originally grumpy when the UPS man woke me up. Now I can't wipe the smile off of my face!
The Big N was nice enough to surprise me with the ultimate duo this morning. The 3DS XL (North American version) and New Super Mario Bros. 2 (North American version) are in-house right now! I'll be answering questions about the system all day long. I'll also be taking pics throughout the day.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below. Even better, send your questions to @GoNintendoTweet on Twitter. I'll be able to respond to those as I go about news. Over on our Twitter account you'll also be able to check out some quick pics that I'll be taking. They'll be auto-posted on Twitter via my Instagram account. If you want, you can follow me on Instagram @rawmeatcowboy.
I'll be doing quick pics/comments/answers all day long, but I'll make sure to put together an official, detailed post later in the day. I'll do my best to address all questions you have!

Wow! Have fun!
Couldn't Nintendo pick better colors for their handhelds? It looks like a fisher price toy...-_-
Does the Circle Pad feel different?
That's so exciting!! I wish my day started off like that! Just play and have fun!
Looks slick..and nothing like a fisher price toy..
…white box for New Mario? Wasn't it yellow?
Well, it's a nice way to start the weekend!
I only have 2 questions which have not been answered (or i may have missed them) 1. is it as big as the dsi xl? and 2. does the top screen scratching occur from the bottom screen?
About the 3DS XL:
Does it feel substantially heavier then the normal 3DS?
Does the top screen wobble (like some earlier 3DS systems)?
How does the button placement feel?
Does the 3D feel about the same or better then the normal 3DS?
Have the buttons and d-pad changed and if so how so and how do they feel?
Do the screens reach the same level of brightness or do they seem brighter or dimmer?
About NSMB2:
How is the 3D?
Are you noticing a lot more coins right off the back?
Has the soundtrack changed up a bit since the previous NSMB games?
Noooooo! Why couldn't they go for a yellow box with NSMB2?
I have a very serious question:
Does the design of the 3DS XL fix the problems that the 3DS has with its bottom screen and circle pad leaving lines/streaks/scratches on the top part and 3D screen because of it pressing against it while the system is closed? It looks like there are two circular stoppers on the sides of the top screen that correspond to the edges of the bottom screen. It seems as though the stoppers will rest on the panel that the Select, Home, Start buttons and Mic are on. If this is the case, then that is another significant improvement over the original 3DS design that has not been discussed much as of yet.
Lucky! Can't wait to get that same combo in a few weeks!
Damn, now I really want a 3DSXL... but I won't spend so much money on a bigger 3DS.
Enjoy, RMC! You've earned it! Can't wait to see your NSMB2 Review~
Only thing I honestly want to know about the game is if you can play Luigi in single player. That's what I am waiting for. Either on the menu, or through a button press like NSMB1. Or as an unlock. That's ALL I want to know and it will determine how soon I get this game. I'll get it anyway, but solo Luigi adventures will determine my haste.
And you need to spoil if Wario is unlockable. Whenever you beat it/get the million or so coins.
@ProtoKun
I thought that was Japan or Europe or something. But I am equally sad.
Also, what happened to the whole "NOW YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND YOUR FAVORITE MARIO TITLES" with putting them all in red boxes? Why are none of the 3DS games in red boxes?
@browngamer4
It looks like a glasses case. Or a compact thing that a woman would have in her purse, but brightly colored like a children's toy.
Then again, I think this looks slick:
RMC, what's the first thing you did when you got you hands on the 3DS XL?
What I want to know is it louder then the 3DS?
Damn it, I was woken up by a mysterious knocking today, too, but by the time I got to the door nobody was there. Now I'm all panicked.
The Duck Has Spoken.
I like the color... Though there seems to be some hue on the picture, so I don't know if I'd like the real color.
Jealous....
Nice! Hopefully I'm lucky and Nintendo sends me one as well. ^_^
The Circle Pad felt exactly like the Circle Pad on the Circle Pad Pro. I found that a bit stiff to begin with, but it smoothed out with more play.
I'll need more time to see if the screen scratching issue happens. The DSi XL is slightly bigger.
- it is noticeably heavier, but I found it lighter than I expected
- much less screen wobble
- I had no problem with the buttons when playing NSMB2
- I need a bit more time to see. My hands get cramped on the 3DS, but I have a feeling the 3DS XL will change that.
- the 3D has more of an impact just because of screen size
- I'll have to put in more time to see just how different the buttons feel compared to the 3DS
- brightness seems just about the same to me
- the 3D in NSMB2 is very subtle. Might be the most subtle of any first-part game.
- I have over 2,000 coins just from playing the first two levels. I played the first level 3 times and the second level once.
- still too early to tell!
I honestly opened it up and just stared for awhile. Then I noticed it being lighter than I expected. Then I ripped open NSMB2!
It could just be me or the setting, but it seems a little bit quieter. I'll double check throughout the day.

I'll keep checking back for more questions! Hit me up on Twitter as well, as I can get to them quicker there.

White case for NSMB2??? Bummer. I guess the yellow case is only for Europe and Japan. Pfft.
Nice Stuff Indeed!
My review copy of the console should be arriving very soon!
I have my 3DS Xl on reservation but I have one question.
RMC or a 3DS owner can answer this, when I transfer my DSi Ware over to the 3DS XL, will it be just that? I have moved my DSi Ware from my DSi XL to the 3DS Xl. Or, will I have copied the DSi Ware from one system to the other?
When you transfer over DSiWare games, they will be deleted from the system they were originally on. Also if you're transferring them from a DSi or a Dsi XL, the save files will be deleted.
