Already have the Mario 25th Anniversary DSi XL, so, no thanks.
Although I'd love to have a red DSi just to increase my collection of red handhelds.
Hah hah hah
Oh Nintendo
Damn that Blue is sexy.
3DS still hasn't hit mass market price, so this is a good idea.
Hmm... this makes me think of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue...
DSiWare releases anyone?
I have a DS Lite, upgraded to Broze DSi XL last month. I see little to no reason to buy a DSi, even with $99 vs $129 savings. Two new colors, looks nice. If I found $100 or won $100 from a scratch off, sure I'd buy one. I could use the 100 C.N coins. Which one, black or this new blue???.....
I think these are just happening because the 3DS XL is using those colors as material.. might as well capitalize on DSi Colors as well, if they were still selling those in the states anyway
Special Edition Muffin 3DS confirmed!
Next up from NOA: A new color for the Game Boy!!!!
Funny.
People didn't complain when Sony announced the new PSP redesign for Europe this past Fall.
Nintendo - a never ending head scratcher
Hehehehehe.
Not really sure why everybody thinks that this is so bad. Why shouldn't Nintendo continue to support all sources of potential revenue? They didn't discontinue the NES until 1995 in NA and 2003 in Japan. Revenue is revenue no matter where it comes from. Not everyone wants a 3DS so why not offer them more incentives, in the form of new colors, to pick up a cheaper DSi?
The colors are actually pretty nice, 2+ years too late and everything, but hey if I didn't already have a DSi, DSi XL, and 3DS I'd jump all over it.
The Vita hadn't been out for over a year and a half in Europe when that was announced this past Fall.
Do people actually want these type of colors for their handheld. Personally, I either buy black, white, or silver. Maybe I am just boring? I guess Nintendo wants to make sure the DS passes the PS2. New colors should help sales a bit, but not as much as another price drop.
True but Sony did go all out to market the PSP in Europe and they still do.
Ok PSP wasn't a good example.
I should have used PS2 which saw its last revision in 2007, which Sony received praise for releasing worldwide.
PS1 saw new hardware after PS2 was on the market.
Gameboy Advance SP was last updated in 2005 a year after DS was on the market.
Gameboy Micro was released one year after DS was on the market.
The point is, hardware makers have milked older hardware while they sell new hardware at low margins.
I was going to get the red 3DS if it was out when GameStop had their trade in deal when the price dropped. Had to settle for black. My Lite was white but that was because the only store that had them in stock only had that and pink left.
I hear you, I'm actually kind of bummed out the US isn't a getting a nice "sophisticated" solid black, grey, or white color 3DS XL at launch; just sky blue or hot red.
I mean, it's not gonna stop me from buying it day one like I always do, but it's still kinda lame.
I agree. That is why I'm waiting for either an all black or an all white system to come out over here. The silver one is alright, but I would prefer it to be all silver instead of silver/black.
My GBA was white, my GBA SP and DS were silver, my DS Lite is white, my DSi is black, and my 3DS is black. My only portable that wasn't one of those colors was my Color, which was light green. Although, that was because it was my favorite color when I was younger.
@Triforce of the Gods
Yeah, I guess there are a lot of people that want these type of colors or Nintendo wouldn't release them in the first place.
So they just announced the release of the 3DS XL and expect 3DS and the XL to keep selling, but they disrupt their own sales with the version of the system they are trying to make people upgrade from?? Huh?!?
Nintendo of America, you are doing it wrong.
Isn't Pokemon B&W2 coming out soon?
I think it's a smart decision by NOA! The DS still sells, it still has games like Pokemon Conquest, and Nintendo wants to sell more than 150 million units surpassing the PS2. What's wrong with this? They can have multiple products at the same time. They should have done the same with the Wii. This is what it's all about. The 3DS they want to be for a long time... like many years. They are in no rush to have DS sales turn to 3DS sales. They can have both.
I LOVE the blue one. Why not make these 3DS colors instead of DSi? In with the new, out with the old.
This makes my job at retail harder. How am I supposed to push 3ds sales when noa does this
It's not a remake though. It's just 2 new colors.
