EA says never underestimate Nintendo, has 'great franchises' set for Wii U

“We’re keeping a very close eye on the platform. (We have learned to) never underestimate Nintendo, as proven by the last generation. EA has great franchises poised to be on that platform. We’ll probably announce more in the future.” - EA's Peter Moore

Nintendo must have some sort of big event set up for the Wii U where all these publishers are going to detail big games. We just keep hearing from publishers that they have projects in the works, but cannot talk about them. It's time they started sharing!

I'm getting tired of hearing about these games, I just want to see them already! -_-

I hope Nintendo hosts a big event in September, so that they can show more of the console's software. E3 had some great games showcased, but we saw very little from the big publishers, like Activision and EA. They need to catch the mainstream's attention. Personally, I'm already sold, but there are a lot that aren't.

EA is having their summer event this week and will be showing some stuff.

Also Gamescon is next week in Europe where announcements will be made.

Nintendo is planning a Fall conference, so all the rest of the details will be then.

It's called 'patience', guys. We just gotta learn to deal with it. The games 'will' come.

I'm more interested in what developers of 'all' countries have in store for the Wii U. At least enough to broaden the Wii U game library.

If Nintendo surprised me with an HD metroid, I'de surprise them with another Wii U pre-ordered.

"EA has great franchises poised to be on that platform"

Translation: Dragon Age railshooter.

When are all these 3rd parties able to talk about their games? Late September? All this talk better not be for something stupid. I'm going to be optimistic though since I'm sure everyone is going to support Nintendo 100%...

To be fair Dragon Age last entry was not received well.

I would love to see a version of the new Simcity on Wii U making full use of the Wii U pad.

I'm officially not convinced, because last generation was the one where we had to learn to not overestimate Nintendo.

I think Nintendo replaced their PR firm and is in the stages of creating a press event in September that essentially re-boots and makes people forget about E3.

Gamestop is opening up pre-orders the first week of September and before the Tokyo Game Show Nintendo will hold their big event. I need some answers about exactly which games are able to play "GamePad screen only", and there ought to be some nifty first-party stuff for the launch of the eShop as well. Price and release date are more or less not going to be all that surprising. Mid-November, $249-299.

What he means is: never publicly underestimate Nintendo. However, behind closed doors--go ahead and underestimate Nintendo. It's the usual PR spin regarding support for Nintendo platforms.

Why don't the publishers take the chance and making Wii U the biggest possible success by supporting it right away?

They cut their own profits being so reserved all the time with Nintendo. They didn't learn anything at all.
Later we will hear tham crying "our games don't sell on Wii U" ... They don't ask themselves why
