This is what happens when you ship over 200,000 units of a Wii game. Well, this is what happened for Namco Bandai, anyway! Family Fishing shipped over 200,000 units in its first year, which convinced Nintendo that they needed to send Namco Bandai a nice award.

200,000 seems a bit low
Also known as the "Thanks for the help on Smash Bros!" Award.
Is the game itself any good? I'm one of those people who likes random digital fishing games. (Fishing Resort's amazing, if anyone is interested!)
200k at retail price is not bad at all, 100k is a modest success. The development costs of these games can't be especially high either.
Seems a bit silly to congratulate them but it seems as though Namco and Nintendo are on especially good terms lately.
?
Fishing Resort IS Family Fishing.
I agree that it's a good game. I expected that you'd be able to make friends with the other people at the resort, and the multiplayer isn't as strong as say, Go Vacation, but it is a solid single player experience (with online leaderboards).
The Fishing Rod Controller adds a certain je ne sais quoi.
Personally, I found it odd that XSEED published it in the US, as opposed to say, Namco.
That's actually a very good idea. Just a little candy to help companies to try to make good games for their consoles.
I would be so overjoyed to receive something like that for one of my game!
@Veitch11 I lol'd
Oh whoops, my mistake.
Nice to see they were noticed for the achievement.
Fishing Resort is definitely worth checking out, or if you like fishing games, buying.
