Madden NFL 13 Wii U only releasing in North America

This was part of the press release we posted up yesterday, but I thought I'd draw attention to it in its own post. Madden NFL 13 Wii U is only going to see release in North America.

Madden NFL 13 will be available on Nintendo Wii U in North America only.

Looks like our friends in Europe have already lost out on a Wii U title. Let the localization woes begin!

Hey, hey, you guys started calling it Soccer, so forgive us for applying it to the sport and spinning off the name football onto something else. Edit: Just was dying to know the original name for American Football. “Start-Stop Rugby with Padding” ...dang, that just... rolls off the tongue.

On a more serious note, this would be like me being sad I cannot play a baseball game with the current Japanese rosters. Really, when you don't live there, what's the point? It's inconsequential to you. Not only that, it's a crap port.

Now that might actually upset people, although Pro Evo is a better game.

It's looking more and more like EA can join THQ & Activision on my boycott list.

Ugh I just realized this. I live in the U.S. and I prefer FIFA to Madden any day.
Looks like I'll get the PS3 version...

Believe it or not, for some reason, there are NFL fans all over. The UK, Australia, hell even China apparently. It's a very American sport...so don't ask me why. But don't forget, years ago, they had NFL Europe, and it was in fact pretty popular (even though by the time it ended, all but one of the teams were located in Germany).

I think I speak on behalf of most of the world when I say...who cares?
User avatar

I don't think no one outside of the US cares. I barely care and the only time I care is when my team goes to the super bowl. And that only happened once in my 24 years (I live in chicago).

Probably for the same reason that anime is huge with certain fans over here. Sometimes a big niche community just arises for overseas goods/culture/whatever because it's different, helps make things a bit more special sometimes.

Outside of the US Madden has actually been able to sell over 13 million copies (of course that's spread over all Maddens for all systems..), but of course that pales to the almost 80 million Americans have bought =/ Madden NFL 12 sold about 610k copies outside the US compared to the US's round 4m so although not completely amazing there is a niche market out there. I buy one Madden a generation now so might get the Wii U one depending on features.

*Back in Europe* And not a single flip was given that day.

But seriously though, I'm pretty sure that most Europeans aren't going to lose any sleep over this news. I know I won't. It would have been a bigger deal if it was Fifa 13. Now THAT would start a riot, at least amongst the Nintendo Fifa fanboys.

Fat overweight Americans tossing a ball around with their big muscles stealing the name of the most popular sport in the world - not being released outside of America

I feel slightly sorry for people with your measure of intellect; only slightly.

And watch the US not getting FIFA, while the rest of America will get it.

Europe is the lucky one in this case. They aren't going to be subject to this shovelware.

Okay....now I think you might possibly need to calm the f*** down.

There's a fine line between saying "I don't care about American Football", and getting downright snotty and insulting.

no one really cares about american football anyway... especially in europe...

Did everyone's sarcasm meter fall of today? I obviously wasn't being serious with that post.

I mean really guys? The amount of sterotyping, ignorance, and overall "jerk" attitude didn't give you guys a clue? I even thought the "stealing the name" would give it away. Maybe if I was some disgruntled United Kingdom member you could take me serious, but I'm a person living in the United States that likes Madden/Football.

I guess my sarcasm is so advanced that people think I'm stupid.

EA is stupid! They could sell the game digitally via Nintendo eShop!

Today it's so easy to make profit with games, because there are almost no costs involved with digital distribution. They could sell Madden Wii U for 4,99 as an eShop download and would make a lot of money!
