Using AR cards
- start up the game, load a save file, and enter the start menu
- Select "Spirits" then Press "X" and select the camera option
- change the camera to the "Outer" camera
- place your card out infront of the camera
AR card info
- most regions come bundled with the Trio card, the stand card and the R&R Seal card
- (Japan) get the Frootz/Fruit Cat card through the April 19th edition of Famitsu Weekly
- (Japan) get the Taihou Kabuto/Kab Kannon card through V-Jump
- (NA) Mark of Mastery Editioncomes with Frootz/Fruit and Taihou Kabuto/Kab Kannon
- Frootz/Fruit, Taihou/Kab, and R&R Seal cards give you those Dream Eaters
- trio card is randomized to give you either Meowjesty, Ursa Circus, or Sudo Neku
- pageantry card provides a simple stand for taking pictures of your Dream Eaters
- each Dream Eater card can only be used once per save file
- if your Dream Eater dies in battle though, you can re-scan the card
- cards are not region locked

I was wondering how it worked.
This is good to know for those rare Dream eaters Frootz/Fruit, Taihou/Kab, R&R Seal, etc.
The AR Cards are sadly region-locked, unlike the OP says they aren't.
