These Wii U boxarts are starting to look at lot more believable

We saw a few from Amazon earlier tonight. Now Target shows us the same style boxart, but this time the spine is included.

Looks like the retailers are onto something this time around. Thanks to Brian for the heads up!

Looks like the entire box is blue. I hope they are smaller than normal Wii and Gamecube boxes.. Blu-ray like would be awesome!

I really hope this is real now. I actually really like it. The yellow might look a little bad, tbh, but overall, I like it~

Not sure why everyone dislikes the yellow.

...Kind of goes with the NN logo.

It looks like a cross between Nintendo GameCube and Studio Ghibli Blu-ray packaging.

I just hope they stick with DVD-size boxes though rather than the shorter boxes they use for Blu-ray media. Actually, they don't have to, but I like to see more room for the art on the cover and less text and/or logo/symbols as possible. I mean the bigger the art, the better!

I just don't like that shade of blue,

I actually really like that :D

I was worried that it would look exactly like the Wii boxarts with a "U" in it

I'm really loving this boxart. I'm gonna be disappointed now if it's fake! Lol!

Loving the fresh change of the box itself being blue also instead of the same ol' white Nintendo goes with now. So yeah, I sort of dig it.

i like the shade of blue, and the blue box is really nice. But that yellow line ?! What where they thinking?

The more and more I look at the design, the more and more I like it. :)

[EDIT]
@Roth
Sadly, the Ghibli top border and the WiiU's ones don't overlap perfectly. :(

Yummy boxart [which will now turn out to be fake] - that yellow stroke is hideous and pointless, though.

Looks brilliant, and no one can claim they thought it was a wii game when buying.

I'm still hoping we get alternate colour boxes a lot more too. Red Mario Bros. and Black Pandora's Tower look brilliant, so I'd love to see more!

The smaller the boxart the better. I just wish Nintendo would go with Blu-Ray for their disc storage. Devs can put a lot more data on those than Dual-Layered DVDs.

They better be light blue cases so we can tell them apart from Wii games

@t27duck
Nintendo is using their own discs again, this time they will hold 25GBs.

They are using single and dual layered "bluray-like" discs, it was one of the first confirmed features of wiiu.

I have to say I like he over all design but that yellow pops out too much it reminds me kind of the Nintendo select titles. I get the feeling having such a bright contrast devalues the product as a whole. It brings down the "awesomeness" of the Assassin's Creed 3 box art to make you look up at the title of the gaming console.

I think probably a lighter blue or even white would be better since it is much more subtle and still leads the eye up to the logo. In fact maybe the yellow should be the same color as the Wii U logo or at the least a lighter blue.

Overall though I think it looks pretty sweet!

Not sure why everyone hates the yellow. I think it looks really nice.

The yellow stripe seems out of place, but this is better than re-using the same Wii boxart design.

OK, I like it. The yellow still bothers me some though. And for a serious game like AC III, the overall blue color (and the tone that it sets) don't seem to match, or rather, set the right mood. They should give developers the option of selecting black boxes. Just look at that Metroid Prime box Roth posted. Now imagine it with that Wii U blue/yellow design. Cringe.

I like the shade of blue. It looks... "modern." The Wii's outline looked out of place; as if it was an old Apple (iWhatever) clone on box arts.

I also think the WiiU disc outlines should be blue in most cases, and red or grey in a few other cases (such as when the whole picture is mostly blue).

I didn't like the colours at first, but they've already grown on me. Not digging the fully-white spines, though (just like Wii games). I want my games collection to look good.
