Something tells me this won't be the ending. And if it is an "ending" (like with Desmond, for example), then the main story line would continue through the veins of another "main" character.

I dunno.. if you're doing a game all about the cataclysm of 2012, why would you extend that plotline to AFTER 2012?
I mean this may be AN ending, just not THE ending. One route they can go is at the end, with you playing as Desmond, they can pull out and you're living the memory of Desmond's DECEDENT. Then they can be like "I dunno! Future Assassin's Creed. Let's screw around and do whatever!"
Like just end the Desmond story. That's all I ask. Continue the franchise or whatever as you see fit, but just end that plotline at AC3

What's sad is, I've honestly never considered that. Seems like such an obvious direction to go in, but it never crossed my mind.
