Coming from our friend Emily Rogers...
After asking multiple people, it seems developers receive a larger cut of revenue putting games on Wii U's eshop than XBLA/PSN. And that applies to both digital downloads for retail games and small indie eshop games on Wii U eshop. Publishers would be smart to make Wii U retail games available as digital downloads. Nintendo aggressively seeking indie games.
That would be a very bold move by Nintendo if true. That would certainly give devs a reason to support Wii U's eShop alongside XBLA/PSN.

And it would potentially give them reason to port over some non-exclusive titles.
Sonic 4 Episode 2 may still make it to Nintendo platforms! lololol. But no really, it could.
We've heard this at least once before already, and with all the digital start-ups / titles Nintendo has acquired for the Wii U already, then this is most likely true.
Miiverse will be a great evolution of the PS360 models with added Nintendo goodness methinks.
Aggressively seeking indie games, hm? What better way to kick things off other than some Minecraft? Your move, Notch.
that's a great move , but it's impossible to not see the elephant in the room . The three hundred bucks microsoft receive for practically nothing , since online gaming is free everywhere else . That money certainly helps getting those games , notch in particular .
I think Frozenbyte confirmed this either at E3 or in the last Nintendo Power.
Hopefully this allows some developers to be full time (or even part time) Virtual Console/PSN/XBLA developers. After all, diversity in gaming makes gaming as a whole developer (with a few exceptions, of course). It also, of course, favors small indie game companies.
This also would be a plus for WiiU gamers, which would allow them to have more great and diverse titles with different price tags, lengths, and approaches to gameplay.
@MoldyClay
SEGA did say they were going to bring over PSN/XBLA titles (though they never specified if they were new upcoming titles or new ones).
Since Ep 1 hit Wiiware, it'd be a shame to not bring it over now that there's a viable option.
And hopefully IF they do there will be the lock-on bonuses.
That'd be awesome. But in-order to take advantage of the controller, they'd have to try and adapt the game for it, which means more dev time, which means more money into making it. Unless they were willing to just say "dude, f*** it, the controller just has a black screen. Focus on the TV, okay?"
I really hope this jumpstarts the Virtual Console again.
Just as long as it won't become open season with a bunch of garbage on said service. I am liking what I am seeing from this being possible.
Smart on Nintendo's part because third party exclusive retail games are a thing of the past so getting a quality and healthy lineup of downloadable games especially exclusive ones can tilt people's buying choices.
I actually wish Nintendo themselves would get into the market as I'm sure they have a ton of ideas that might not work as retail games but could be made into cheap downloadables.
Hmm I wonder if Microsoft and Sony will file an unfair trade practice suit with the Federal Trade Commission to block Nintendo's plans?
This is obviously an unethical move by Nintendo.
@M1 how exactly?
I could see this being true; Nintendo will need to get indie devs in on the Wii U's eShop to help sustain it.
I think everyone would be making a bigger deal out of this if they knew how much Nintendo's previous cut was holding developers back (no sarcasm, it's all a numbers game).
Can't tell if serious or not...
Now while I'm what you consider leftwing, to me this seems like capitalism in action. Offer the service for a better price in order to compete with competition. Or if you prefer Microsoft and Sony can keep their monopoly and fix prices however they like...
Sounds pretty cool really, hopefully this will grab the attention of the indie crowd!
Who cares, let's see some Virtual Console
...Do you not understand what this means?
Developers may now want to put their titles on the Wii U because they can rake in more profits.
Unethical...not really. It's just a smart move to compete with Microsoft and Sony. Offer developers a better deal than what they currently have in order to attract them and bolster the Wii U's library of digital games.
This could be good if true... It would attract more attention from indie devs to the eShop, meaning more games. It could probably force MS and Sony to do the same giving indie devs more opportunities, making their games sector grow.
