Let the Wii U eBay madness begin

Remember when this sort of thing happened with the Wii? Someone is already selling their Wii U preorder on eBay...for just under $1,000. How high are Wii U sales on eBay going to go? Is this person jumping the gun a bit?

Now to wait for it to be $3500 like with the Wii (at $2500).

I knew I should've jumped on that! Seriously though, I don't think I could do that to people. Maybe for $50-100 more but I wouldn't push for that crazy amount. Cruel.

A fanmade PS4 or X-Box 8 sku here would make the price more realistic, lol. :P

It's not Racketeering to sell preorders on eBay, since no one is forcing you to buy them.

I don't really know what racketeering is, I just said what the Gamestop guy told me. It is kind of sad that some people would rather buy loads of systems to make a profit than let regular people get one at a fair price though.

This isn't necessarily illegal but it sure is unethical

It's not illegal as long as his purchases are legit. It is unethical though :P

The depressing thing is, two people actually bought/bid on this, I think (there's mention of 2 orders on the page).

Seriously though, it's plain stupid and sad that people are doing this kind of thing already.

Ugh,i really can't afford to buy this until november.
But all the scalpers are buying it so fast there'll be no no preorders left for people that just want the wii u for them self.
This really is rackertering,imo because you can't buy it witout going though them

@dlf

Not quite. eBay and Paypal will take their cut of that. Despite that, if they do get buyers at that price though, it will still have been worth their while to do that.

The lesson here people is don't buy the systems at their ridiculous prices. This really is a case of the consumer driving the demand. These people wouldn't do it if there wasn't any money to be made in doing so.

this isn't going to happen this time. there isn't NEAR as much anticipation for the WiiU as there was for the wii

@funkamatic

There's really no way for you to gauge something like that at this point in time. I mean if we were just going to go on the solid information that we do have up to this point, which would be the pre-orders selling out everywhere, it would seem that demand is quite high at the moment.

We just don't know the specifics at this point like the numbers of available units to pre-order and whether or not it will be sustained over a period of time. But regardless, a statement like that is nothing more than speculation at this point. Basically a, "Because so and so in the gaming biz said so" type of mentality. Wait and see.

One of my friends is trying to do this kind of crap. Honestly, I really don't think it's right for someone to be able to go get themselves 7 pre-orders of a system, depriving OTHER deserving gamers who could otherwise get the console on launch day. That's really fucked up, in fact....

@Devil_Rising

How can someone afford 7 WiiUs? That's what I don't get @_@

lol I wonder what the seller would say if I offered $350..

Let the stupids overpay. It isn't like Nintendo won't keep making more to put out in stores.
Patience.
