Only with a Nintendo console do you get this type of speculation and PR spin concerning specs. From what, I've seen so far its good enough. Games are in HD, online will be supported more, 3rd party support is there, and the controller's pretty innovative and looks fun to use.
Yes we already know it's not too far off from the PS3/360 in terms of power. No. It doesn't have the power that the PS4/720 is speculated to have. And yes--it's capable of producing games that look better graphically than the PS3/360. Beyond all that, what else do we need to know?

Don't forget exclusives!
Anyway. We want to know HOW much better the games will look on the U compared to the PS360 and how much better it will hold up against the PS4/Nextbox when they are out. It's imortant for 3rd parties, thus important for gamers what games we get!
I mostly agree with oyu. Specially after Bayonetta 2!!! I'm so getting a Wii U (yeah I did that on purpose!)
Well we know that the WiiU is at least as strong as the current gen of consoles. I don't expect it to be much stronger and it will probably not compare to ps4/xbox720.
WiiU will be sold at 300 euros and Nintendo will be making a profit out of it.
Don't expect it to be anything close to the ps4 which will probably be sold for at least 450 euros and Sony will be losing money by selling it, not to mention that it will be released at least in a year which means that technology will be cheaper by then. That's my speculation of course.
All that matters to me though is the games. So I want to see more games!

Graphics are not as important for 3rd parties you think.
3rd parties are more concerned about attach rate, software sales, who buys the system and how many 1st party games Nintendo releases in a year.
the attach rate is similar , the software sales with 50% more systems than either systems is astonishingly superior and the three annual big nintendo software can't really be more damaging than the cod , madden, fifa or other sure thing that don't really allow any competition in their genre .
and yet, they somehow ended up thinking they could not sell games on wii , could not beat true shovelware producer , that their brands were so weak that a main game would not sell .
So yeah as of right now the situation on wii u i still going to better than wii , whatever happens .
as for the leak , it's just not believable that simple support staff would know anything about it , because ... hmm how exactly is this useful to know for the support hotline ? and at least some people have come out and say it's not that .
The most probable thing that happened is that it started from a message-board then onto the amd support and back to the message board .
40-75w , full wii compatibility, oooe, dsp , something something , it draws a pretty picture , i just don't think the ports are depending truly on any logical reason but even let's assume it is then the wii u is closer to get a port than the wii . As for the nintendo games themselves , i find them quite gorgeous and better than anything i've seen in 360 or pc , and i do play on pc . Well at least in their genre , not that it was a hard thing to do to begin with .
even if the gpu is confirmed it still apparently three four generations ahead of the 360 gpu , which a few months ago was a totally impossible thing to conceive ... for some

Depends on 3RD party. Modern Warfare games (some of them at least) never came over because of the low specs, Bioshock, GTA, Killzone etc... All big games!
I partially agree with you that there might be someone who think that their games won't sell (or they are just fanboys thmselves) but in the end it is about the money. That is where we agree. Apart from that there should be no reason not to release games like GTA5 and Bioshock infinite on the U! BUT! When the PS4/Nextbox come out, get ready to hear the entire low-spec and cinematic games tlk all over again. So glad Nintendo snatched up Bayonetta 2! Just to show hoe exclusives ARE important!
Actually both DS and Wii got all the Call of Duty games on time for the most part.
If Wii U was as powerful and Xbox 8 and/or the most powerful console of the next gen, it would still miss out on 3rd party support.
Rockstar refused to release their games on GC because they didn't want their games on a kiddy console.
Most Western 3rd parties followed suit with the kiddy line.
Western 3rd parties have traditionally viewed Nintendo as the kiddy/"casual" system, so don't expect too much Western support, especially if the launch games like Arkham and ME3 fail to sell.
(Look at their god awful support for 3DS for current example)
Also Killzone is a Sony IP
Wii U will do plenty fine with Japanese support and the family friendly 3rd party support.
To recap Western developers are "hardcore" gamers themselves, thus prefer to make games for said gamers.
Also be ready for more "test" games to determine 3rd party support.

not true the Gamecube's down fall was it's disk size. or i should say it's capacity
it aint the motion of the ocean. it's the size of the boat.

But I have Steam, so I'll be fine.
I meant Battlefield. LOL. Thanks for pointing that out!
Anyway. It's just a stupid thing from them if they don't release games on a Nintendo console and use the "kiddy image" as an excuse AND lose money on it. That would just make them fanboys as the whiners with the Bayonetta deal. Pointless and childish! I refuse to believe it would cost THAT much to make a Wii U version of some games. And why they not sell? Silly people.
Problem with the sales of Batman is that it's an "old" game by now. Think Modern Warfare 2 and Assasin's Creed 3 can do well though.

Modern Warfare 2 is an old game from 2009, I thought Wii U was getting Black Ops 2 this November like the others.
Battlefield 3 on consoles had lots of issues.
Also the BBC has already labeled the Wii U a kiddy/"casual" system back at E3, because of Nintendo's first party games.
@Neji
Yes it is, numerous 3rd parties openly claimed the kiddy image was one of the key problems in their support for Gamecube.
Hell even the BBC openly labeled the system a kiddy system.
Most games last gen came in under 1GBs which was more than enough for the Gamcube discs.
Driver was the only game that was stated to be too big for the disc.
Also disc space has nothing to do with support if said discs are cheap to produce.
Xbox 360 has many multi disc games this gen and no 3rd party complained about it.
Remember how many discs Final Fantasy 13 came on for 360?
Meant Black Ops 2 of course. Two in a row! Not bad Must be more tired than I thought
And many bugs are fixed for Battlefield 3 last I heard. Never play it myself. Nt my pint of beer. But would still be god to see BF4 hit the U (which it is supposed to do).

I think RMC is referring to an alleged email someone sent to AMD asking about the Wii U's GPU where they were actually told what model it would use. It could easily been photoshopped since it was just a screen shot.
I'm actually surprised that RMC is referring to it as if it were fact because unless more people were able to confirm AMD was verifying the info, I only saw the same email pic being passed around on different sites.
Some of the specs seem plausible but the pic itself raised several red flags for me. I'm not convinced the GPU couldn't have been based on the E6760 but I'm doubting that they just sent out the info in an email like that.
And yet even with all this talk of Gamecube being a 'kiddy system' that missed out on 3rd party support, the fact of the matter is that it had a small userbase and relatively little storage and STILL ended up having stronger ''core' third party support than the Wii... because it was still powerful enough to support modern wares.
I really hate this idea that a Nintendo console can't gain third party support through parity. Because it's bullshit. There are some developers who would still avoid Nintendo I'm sure but the Wii third party situation won't happen again unless Nintendo makes it happen. And all this talk is just a way to absolve Nintendo of any responsibility in the matter. Nintendo is doing a great job of making sure that Wii U is taken seriously as a gaming machine without abandoning the casual/social elements that made the Wii brand so strong to begin with. That, by the way, is something they said they'd do out of the gate with Wii, a console that would bridge casual gamers and have something for everybody, but lacked some features and functionality relevant to gamers in favor of, you know, checking yesterday's news and voting on stuff. This time I'm seeing a console capable of appealing to all audiences without drastic compromises. I've got plenty of confidence in them and I really think third party developers are going to come around to Nintendo this generation.

You do remember that Xbox and Gamecube had the same size user base through out the gen.
You can also produce multi disc games, though again last gen most games came under 1GB.
Yes 3rd parties have gone on record last gen claiming Gamecube user base was primarily kids and they wouldn't buy their games.
Many 3rd parties when on record claiming the main problem with the Wii was the "casual" audience and Nintendo flooding the system with first party games killing 3rd party sales.
3rd parties have already gone on record stating they are taking the wait and see approach with Wii U to see if 3rd party games sell and to see if the Wii U user base becomes "hardcore" or "casual".
Other 3rd parties are refusing to support the Wii U due to the "casual" image.
This is how 3DS has gone with 3rd parties:
Our games aren't selling due to low hardware sales and lack of 1st party games (launch) -----> Nintendo is releasing too many first party games killing our sales (Chirstmas) ----> The user base is not "hardcore" enough (spring/summer) fall --->?
Also the Gamecube only had good 3rd party support because Sega and Capcom supported it.
The other companies gave it botched ports and buggy games.
The 3rd parties made Nintendo lift the restrictions on what 3rd parties could release on Wii and DS, in order to gain 3rd party support.
How much do you want to bet 3rd parties abandoned Wii U due to low 3rd party launch sales and/or user base demographcis by mid year 2013?
so it is using something from the embedded line? laaame sauce.
Why?

To be fair, I think that the GPU of the Wii U will be heavily customized, so I do not think that Nintendo would use the exact embedded AMD GPUs.
