Yeah the song is decent but I agree with you. Many people subconsciously hate stuff just because it's popular. It's pretty lame to act in such a way.

The song is only half of the popularity. The dance is the other part. Both are fun.
The Tepig video is pretty cute 'cause he's OBVIOUSLY doing the dance, as best as a person in a Pokemon suit can, lol.
Oh my god. That's hilarious. The person in the costume was definitely having fun with it then.
The only reason I'm seeing Gangnam Style hate is because it became a mainstream thing.
To be fair, I don't think it will die down unless it hits #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It's at #2 currently.

Furthermore, a person could easily turn your accusation around and say that people only like the song because it has become the latest go to fad and it makes you seem hip and cool if you reference it or say how great it is etc. etc. etc. and so they pile on the bandwagon baa-ing sheep style all the way. See how that works?
Just a hunch, but maybe most of the people who hate on this now are, oh I don't know, just over it now and tired of seeing it everywhere as opposed to being hipsters or jealous (

If you wrote a post about how you didn't like the video, that would be pretty relevant. While complaining about the song itself is partly relevant, save it for someplace else.
You're as bad as people who hate on Dorkly without watching the actual video...
In relation to the video, if the music hadn't been played, I wouldn't have associated it with the song at all.
ITT: People hating popular things because they're popular.
More importantly, hating things simply because people are reposting them, but if you're watching every single one of these videos, that's your own fault.
I have only watched the actual video of the song once, and watched 3, short parodies (TMNT, this, and Guile). Seeing as this and the Guile one aren't even the whole song, I see no reason for the angst. The only way to find this annoying is if you're actually watching all of the videos, and like I said, that's your own fault. You don't need to hear the song or watch the dance/videos at all. If you're letting yourself get annoying by it being posted, even though you're not watching it, then you are an idiot (generalization). It's just a song/video.

Save it for some place else? You mean posting my opinion on Gangnam Style on a post directly referencing Gangnam Style is out of place? OK, sure.
For the record, I never said, nor do I have a problem with the video. But I certainly think I am within my right to say, "Hey, I'm tired of Gangnam Style now" and not be told I have no taste or I'm a hipster etc. etc. etc. I just expressed and opinion. It was in no way meant to be aggressive. That's just how sensitive people who can't handle a dissenting view take it. That's not my problem.
If you notice, the only people being attacked here or given a condescending reply are people saying they don't like Gangnam Style anymore and are over it or never did to begin with. Again, this is just people being uptight about a negative view of popular opinion. So sorry I don't like or still like what some of you guys do.

This is my point, you didn't actually speak about what this article/video was about at all, simply the music used. Gave no indication you'd actually watched it (not that I'm saying that's essential, but makes what you have to say more worthwhile writing).
Yeah, you are in your right, I wasn't questioning that. And I agree that people don't have to be uptight simply because you dislike something they may like. Nor did I claim you to be aggressive. I don't care who likes or dislikes the song, but simply complaining about the song added nothing to the comment section.
I have to admit, you were slightly condescending towards MegaShock (especially since he, like you, was simply sharing his opinion...)
I don't know if this is aimed at me, because as I said, I don't mind what you think of the song, just wanted to say that complaining here isn't really as relevant as it could be. But whatever, opinions and all that...

My comment to Megashock was anything but condescending. It was a flat-out rebuttal to a stupid comment generalizing anybody who doesn't like Gangnam Style now or ever as having poor taste, being hipsters or jealous. Period.
I don't have a problem with him saying it's an awesome song and doesn't make his ears explode yadda yadda yadda because I, unlike him apparently as well as a few others in this post it would seem, know not everyone shares the same tastes/views/opinions etc. If he would've just stopped there I wouldn't have even commented further than my initial posted opinion. But since he decided to go beyond his view of the song and take issue with somebody else's entirely self-contained view, rather poorly I might add, I certainly feel justified in saying what I said in response.
I think it's more reasonable for people to hate popular things because they are so over-played on a daily basis to the point where they become annoying. To me that seems logical. When it comes to this whole Gangnam Style thing on the other hand, I just hate it because it's just repetitive and annoying. I listen to music that is more on the progressive side of things rather than 3-4 minutes of slight variations every 8 measures, but it's essentially the same riff on the same key. Bleagh. But that's just me. If you like it, by all means go ahead and listen to it until your ears bleed.

Ugh, this is the last thing i'm going to say about it. If I come off as hung up on Megashock, well it's kinda because you know he's the whole reason I even commented a second time in the first place. He's who I took issue with. See the point?
And I didn't miss anything you said, I merely took issue with your comment that, to you, I was condescending to him in my response. I told you that I wasn't. I was flat out rebutting his short-sighted remark hence why Megashock is at the center of my remarks towards you. You brought him up again not me. I merely explained to you why I said what I said.
And as for the topic of the post. My comment about a video with Gangnam Style playing over it while Tepig is doing the Gangnam Style dance seems pretty relevant to me considering the whole video is a reference to...wait for it, Gangnam Style.
Anyway, if it'll make you feel any better, I watched the video before I initially commented and guess what? It didn't and doesn't change the fact that to me, Gangnam Style is past it's expiration date, which is why I said what I said. If that's not a good enough justification for you. Whelp, sorry. And with all do respect, I really don't need to explain myself to you. I didn't know you were the authority on comment relevancy anyway. Gagnam style is alright because everyone knows it's ridiculous and everyone's having fun about it. It's not trying to take itself seriously and there's a lot of room for parody which is why there are so many mashups. So even though the song is not that great, it's far more bearable because it's self-aware. No one's calling PSY or whatever the artist's name is the second coming of Mozart or whoever. It was always meant to be laughed at and that is what everyone is doing. If you have to come in and talk about how annoying it is, than yeah, you're just being a hipster trying to show the world how "different" and "cool" you are for being "above" everyone else who might find some entertainment in other people having fun and being part of a group. Just sayin~

Nope, wrong again. I'm saying it's annoying because it has become annoying and overplayed now. I was a fan at first. Now it's become Justin Beiber levels of overdone and that's my prerogative to feel that way. That doesn't make me a hipster or somebody who's trying to be "different" or "cool". Also, I do love it when people claim they can't be wrong because it's their opinion. In my opinion, I believe opinions can be wrong, so either I'm right, meaning opinions can indeed be wrong, or I'm wrong, in which case there's a paradox. (note: this isn't directly aimed at you, just an observation. Although, you are claiming MS to be wrong, when it's only his opinion. Pretty sure he's just trolling you anyway).

I know that. You know that. I said it simply to be the dick he was being to me. I know the difference between the possessive form of "your" and the contraction for "you are". I used it properly in an earlier post. It was just a simple oversight/mistake. He pointed it out to be a dick and by virtue of that, was acting like he was perfect when in fact he made a simple oversight/mistake himself and it came back and bit him in the a$$. That's usually what happens to people like that. Nobodies perfect or without fault and those who try to act like it find that out sooner rather than later. Especially on the internet.

And I agree with you. Opinions can be wrong. It's still some peoples opinion that African Americans are inferior and less than Caucasians based solely on their skin color. Are they wrong? Yes they are. Whether it's there opinion or not.
