Requests for Darkstalkers Resurrection on Wii U have been noted

As you well know, Darkstalkers Resurrection has not been announced for the Wii U. Capcom says this has something to do with the game being in the works for over a year now. At that time of development, Capcom was unaware of the Wii U's online capabilities.

Obviously, Capcom knows a lot more about Wii U online right now. They have said that requests to bring Darkstalkers Resurrection over to Wii U have been 'noted'.

Capcom notes a lot of things.
They also fail to take action on many that would make money.

I like when people say things would obviously make money on Nintendo consoles when you don't actually know that.

I could easily see this not doing well on Wii U.

Having said that, I want it to come to Wii U.

lulz.

I'm still miffed they're porting old stuff instead of making new Darkstalkers stuff. I'd never buy this on any console. And yet, I want it to do well so they make actual new Darkstalkers games.

Capcom is usually on top of development for Nintendo platforms. The fact that they've seemingly come to the Wii U with nothing but Monster Hunter 3U is giving me Wii vibes. They're not even taking advantage of the eshop, and Darkstalkers is going to need as big of an audience as it can get.

We were unaware of Wii U's online capabilities....even though we've made games for the Wii that had perfectly fine online capabilities................

Typical Capcom bulls***.

meh don't bother , unless it's a special version including all the characters and all the stages from all the games , it's not worth it . I never understood how they trashed all their great animated stages for the last game , it's so stupid .

They've long since abandoned how great their old sprite based 2D fighters used to look anyway. Look at SFIV, MvC3. A really trashy looking artstyle painted over rather "meh" looking 3D models. Not great, by any means.

And yet you look at BlazBlue, which shows how good sprites in a fighter can look today. Mind you, I don't care for BlazBlue as a game, but I appreciate the approach.

Hopefully this and other projects get a go.

Ooh, you mean there's a chance I could finally play these classic fighters in either stretched to hell blur-o-vision or square, off-pixel 4:3 with obnoxious borders just like the ugly-ass SF3 XBL port?

Why does no one give you options for a proper pixel aspect with a nice flat black border in downloadable retro titles? The borderless option in the Streets of Rage collection is still a grey gradient with a black rectangle around the game window, what the hell people?

I like handing over money for good games, but emulators do so much better a job than almost all of these sloppy, ugly, downloadable ports.

We all know that one niche Capcom vs game sold incredibly poorly due to it being on a Nintendo platform.

...Wait, I don't! Tskuntoaoffasofsaogoagjg vs Capcom sold extremely well. I can easily see one of the only fighters on the Wii U doing well.

Here's what we do know. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom sold moderately well on Wii, even though it wasn't as advertised as it could have been, and even though most people in America don't have any idea what "Tatsunoko" is.

Here's what else we know. "Street Fighter" is a recognized brand name. You put "Street Fighter" on just about anything, if nothing else, shoppers, when walking by it in a store, are going to notice the cover and go "Oh, Street Fighter". That's the kind of recognition that something like "Tatsonoko" is never going to get in the states. Meaning, if they have bothered to put SFIV on Wii (which they absolutely could have, but were too cheap to), I'm willing to bet that it would have sold a million or more copies. And, at the very LEAST, still likely would have sold more than TvC did, which topped off at around 400k.

Same thing with Marvel vs. Capcom. Also would have sold better than Tatsunoko, because "Marvel" is a highly recognized brand name, and you'd have recognizable characters like Spider-Man and Wolverine on the cover. People would see that, and be more likely to buy it, than a game with a cover that shows a bunch of obscure anime characters, many of which never even came out in any form in the states. TvC was a good game. I've played it, I've beaten it, I liked the fact that the last boss was the boss from Okami. BUT, I still would have rather seen SFIV or MvC3 on Wii.

Now, "Darkstalkers" is not the same kind of visible brand as Street Fighter or Marvel. They haven't made a NEW entry in the series since the 90s. But it was popular for it's time, it had an American cartoon, it sold well on the Playstation (despite horrible load times), etc. etc. So I'm still willing to bet that it might have a chance of selling on a similar level on Wii U, as it might for PS3 or 360. Could be wrong, but I'm just saying. A huge part of the reason many 3rd party games didn't sell as well on Wii, is because half the time, they outright refused to bring big name franchises to Wii, and instead gave it s*** like "Spyborgs", which in it's original form could have been quirky and fun, but STILL wouldn't have sold all that well, most likely. Or even a game like Zack & Wiki, which was excellent, Capcom wasn't all that happy with it's sales in the end, even though they were the ones that didn't bother promoting it better in the states. Monster Hunter sold because it's a recognizable brand. Same with the RE games. It's just simple logic. People are more bound to buy things they're already aware of and recognize, which is why so many people buy Call of Duty or Halo or Madden. It's isn't ALWAYS that so many people just think they're great.

It's that they're basically the McDonald's of video games. Highly visible, highly recognized, people know about it just because, and it's SUPER-advertised every installment, so people feel compelled to think to themselves "Oh yeah, I gotta go pick that up". People can blame Nintendo for that, to a point, because they didn't make Wii HD. But that only goes so far. Many other companies still put games, like Madden, like WWE, like Need for Speed, like Call of Duty, like SW: The Force Unleashed, like Ghostbusters, and many of those ports turned out alright, or even great. Not all, some were s***, sure. But some were just fine, lesser graphics or not. That's what needs to change on Wii U, is 3rd parties not acting like lazy ****s in the first place, and actually porting multi-console games to Nintendo's system.

And so far, it's a pretty encouraging indicator that that is going to improve.
