xxdeathwishxx wrote:People! People.. They said the gamepad has a headphone jack for the mics. That doesn't mean you have to connect it to the gamepad JUST to use it, because turtle beach is making head sets (that are both wireless and wired) that you hook up to the system's usb ports. So why is this an issue? And for everyone else talking about cross game chat.. I personally HATE getting an invite to go into a party on xbox 360 where i have to PAUSE MY GAME go to the dashboard (now keep in mind if i'm in an online match, people could be killing me right now) and accept the invite, then wait for the 360 to join, then i'm in a group with people I don't know, AT ALL. And most of the time, those people are fucking ANNOYING! So i don't have a problem with this. You don't need cross game chat to have a great online system. The Wii U will (most likely) have everything the 360 has to offer, besides having cross platform chat. Its stupid to argue it to, it's like saying "my car has the same horse power, torque ect. But i have one extra feature in my car that you don't have, so mines better" That makes no sense at all. And to the people complaining? if you want cross game chat, go to the 360 end of discussion... The Wii U isn't for you obviously.

If only there was a second screen so that the game on the TV wouldn't have to be interrupted with pop ups while playing online. While we're dreaming, why didn't they give the OS enough RAM so the pop up invite wouldn't take forever to load like on 360. Man, if only.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING. One of the best features of the 360 is cross-game party chat. I love that I can be playing a completely different game than my friends yet still talk to them. Since I don't play many multiplayer games, this is almost always the case with me on Xbox. WiiU is getting a lot right, but there are just enough missteps that Im not buying the console until there is a big, solid library of (mostly first party) games.

Sounds like PSN's voice chat. I see people are complaining anyway though.

Exactly, though people want an XBL killer (which is nearly impossible since Microsoft is an IT company).

It's not impossible to have an OS app run in the background that allows you to have skype like voice chat regardless of what game your playing, get real.

Nintendo may fix this with an OS update in the future, but I really thought this would be something the OS would have built into it's core.

Welp, it looks like I'll still have to use Skype to talk with friends while playing video games.

The only genuinely disappointing part about this is that the pro controller doesn't have a head phone jack. I have no problem, or rather, I would prefer to have a headset then use the built in mic so that it's always on and has less feedback.

Also on the note of cross game chat, yes I would like cross game chat, but tbh unless its skype, I'm not sure I really will end up caring. The cross game chat on my 360 breaks up throughout gameplay, half the time my voice doesn't even get picked up (though my mic's work), and quite frankly Skype has vastly superior call quality.

I'd rather use my laptop and cell phone to chat with people.

Seriously no console or PC service gets cross game voice chat to work well.

The 360 has cross game chat with a tiny OS. I've already given my two bits.

Yes and 360's cross game chat is known for spotty quality, not good quality.

As a result of being shoehorned into a tiny OS without any power put aside for it. I thought Nintendo would know well enough to get it in there from the start and put aside the required CPU power to allow it to work.

What are you going to do if PS4 doesn't have cross game chat?

Seriously i'd rather use real Skype, iChat, or my phone... You know applications and devices made for communication.

I'll be shocked if PS4 doesn't have cross game chat.

So you want to be tied to a computer or use your phones calling plan, and expect the person you're wanting to play with to do the same?

I'd rather know that everyone on my friends list is available to voice chat, regardless of if they're in another game or watching Netflix.

My laptop and system are in the same room and it has a much better mic and communication app.
Since my cell phone provides better quality audio, it is better to use.

But I guess you need to use crappy console chatting to make your games more "hardcore"!

No you just blowing this out of proportion for some strange reason.
If you can chat in your online games and use Nintendo's A/V chat program for when you aren't, then you are covered all the way around.

If you want to talk to your friends you can do it the traditional ways or use Facebook like a normal person.

People saying "The PS3 doesn't have cross game chat either." are using a BS excuse. This is a new console in 2012.

PS3 lol, remember when they said that it wasn't possible to run PS2 games on the PS3 without new hardware? Oh Sony... why can't you just NOT comment on it rather than lie and then fix it later and make you look like an ass.

Placing the Wii U Gamepad 10-15 feet away from you to use video chat which includes sound from the built-in mic: OK

Using voice chat with the built-in mic 6 inches away from your face that's less taxing on the system and has clearer and louder sound quality for the optimal headset-less chat experience: WHAT ARE YOU STUPID!?

Except the PS3 is from 2006? Sony can't update it either because of the system's ram. Good to see your comparing a next gen system to this gen that started almost 7 years ago. Just because one company doesn't have it doesn't mean Nintendo shouldn't.

But if Wii U is only as powerful an Xbox 360, then it probably cannot run it .

Does the PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, or XBOX 720 support miiverse and Nintendo TVii features? ,.....Exactly

So was that wii u chat feature that's on the side of the wii u box talking about video chat then? Wouldnt that be considered universal chat, especially if it can function in miiverse? That would be enough if you could video chat with more than one party. And before we go grabbing our pitch forks let's not forget about miiverse. Its basically a Nintendo social network with a lot of robust features and features we don't know about yet. A lot of you are on here talking about how Nintendo is in the stone age for not implementing certain features, when in fact their bringing new and innovative ways to share and communicate on a console via miiverse and Nintendo TVii.
