New Wii U-branded Wiimote have a slight change

Well look at that! That's going to make things much easier to sync up. In a recent Iwata Asks feature, the team stated that they wanted the syncing process to be simpler by having the button easy to find. I guess that applies to the Wiimote as well! Thanks to Gary for the heads up.

They could've already done that when the Wii Remote Plus first came out.
Third parties have been putting them on the battery cover for years.

Yeah, none of my Wii Remote Pluses have this. Pretty cool

Syncing the Wii has always been a pain in the butt. Hopefully it will be easier with Wii U.

Hmm.... I have a Wii one like that. I think they started doing that a while ago.

True, but I have to do that anyway cause of my battery packs.

I was thinking of selling my white remotes and get black ones to match the Wii U anyway (and have MotionPlus built in like the gold remote). Didn't know they had black jackets, though. The gold one came with a white jacket.

Wow! ... this is news to me. Course I haven't bought a Wii remote since fling smash.... Well ... I'm lying ... The Zelda Wii remote with skyward sword... But it's still in the box unopened... Neat! I wish they made red Wii remote and nunchuck sets in the US...

I bought two new Wii remotes. One with U branding and one without. They both have the exterior sync button. Maybe they added it in last year.

that's not true. I bought a Wii Remote with motion plus built in about 3 months ago to play Skyward Sword, and it looks exactly the same as the one in the picture. this isn't new at all.

Picture then. I have one and it's not how you describe it.

Nice. That at least solves one of many problems I have with the Wii Remote. Next they need to do a model that has rechargable batteries.

I wish another upgrade was an internal rechargeable battery... but still cool to see something new!

Yeah, these aren't new at all. I bought a black Wiimote Plus last February and the sync button is on the outside.

That's quite nice actually. I wonder if they'll be backwards compatible with the Wii.

In my opinion that's not a big deal. I don't really care where that button is. I synced my remotes once and that's it...

Some people have friends and siblings that also have Wiis but not enough remotes, leading to us having to sync our remotes to their Wiis when we have a get together at their place.

Theres supposed to be a simple option to do a one time guest sync for cases like that. It doeant mess up the sync with your console. I used it awhile back but not recently, pretty much everyone I know has several wiimotes at this point.

Yup my wii remote plus also has it outside.

You all act like this is old news... But the majority of people have not even seen this... I'm as into Nintendo as it gets ... But it just so happens I haven't bought a remote in over a year and a half... So... We're all really happy for you if your Wii remote already looks like this, but some of us have never seen this.

Yeah, my friend who bought a Wii in the Spring has that as well. I was a bit confused because the Wii Remote Plus I got back in December still has it on the inside. It makes syncing such a pain!

It's the little things.

I also don't have that on the outside of my Motion Plus. It is a shame because I have all the Wiimotes that I need now, so I wouldn't care about getting a new one today, and I find it to be a neat adjustment.
