Coming from Emily Rogers...
YouTube still launching for Wii tomorrow, coming to 3DS next year. Uncertainty over an ND happening this week. Can't confirm or deny. I've been close to an indie developer currently in process of becoming a Wii U eShop developer. Hope to report info on it soon. Whether this indie dev gets accepted or rejected as a Wii U developer, ill be the first one to report it.
I think it's a given that a Nintendo Direct is going to hit us anytime now. I've heard the same from a couple inside sources. Whether it pans out this week or next remains to be seen. We'll find out soon enough about the YouTube situation!

I'm looking forward to this. I can't wait to see what all they show in the next Nintendo Direct.
I'd check out that Youtube app.
Did they confirm if it'd be free or not? Seeing as how I don't have the money for a Wii U for like... ever, it'd be nice to still get some use out of it when fewer and fewer games are released on it. Although half the time I'm on the computer anyway these days, so I dunno.
I just hope it's capable of doing the lengthier videos. I'd like to hope it can stream okay, but if it's streaming higher than 360p with no ability to turn it down, I won't be able to rely on my DSL to keep up(it will in the mornings, but definitely not at night or weekends).
Nintendo never even confirmed it to begin with.
If it's true though, it would most likely be free.
@MAGNUS-8M
It's free on the PS3, so I assume it'd be free on the Wii as well.
I'd think it would be free, and could be a keystone in Nintendo's advertising strategy for the Wii this holiday.
If you can own an account for free, you can own the app for free, one would think.
Hmm, I'm more of a casual YouTube user today. But, I remember when I wanted to go on YouTube with Wii's Internet Channel quite often when I first started to use it (playing videos was so crappy sometimes).
It makes me a little interested in seeing how smooth it runs.
"casuals" will surely lap this up.
I just don't see the point of putting YouTube on the Wii this late in the consoles life.
They pledged to support the WII even after the Wii U's launch. Just like the DS Lite/DSi after 3DS's launch.
A YouTube app for Wii - but not for 3DS [by now], nor for Wii U at launch is still stupid...
I hope the next year for the 3DS part isn't true. D':
When did they say that it wasn't going to be available for Wii U at launch?
E3, IIRC.
And since Netflix has been shown off since and not YouTube...
So...they never said it wasn't coming, then.
So did the Wii get a Youtube App? The only source for this rumour is Emily Rogers, only this story on GN as been re-posted on a small handful of forums. No other Games site appears to running this rumour.
Big surprise...incorrect information.
Recent tweet from Ms Rogers:
Not sure any developer would like you or can (legally) let you leak their game? I didn't know Nintendo for letting indie developers work on Wii U yet either.
No.
