Talk about a random occurrence! Dragon Quest VII is getting a port for the 3DS. The port is due out in Japan this February. No word on this port heading to the states at this time.
3ds to continue to print money confirmed!
Edit: people are calling this a port, but it looks like a remake to me...well, another remake. The first version doesn't look like that
further edit: I guess the rumor of a Square enix game from a popular franchise that ends with a "VII"
was right.

Dragon Quest VII was a PS1 game and it used 2D sprites, the 3DS version of VII is full 3D remake.
This is also significant in that it marks the first time that an Enix game originally developed for a Sony platform has been remade/ported for a Nintendo one. It still has yet to happen for a Square game.
Square-Enix building up the fanbase for the 3DS for the inevitable Dragon Quest XI. Good choice. I imagine Nintendo will be behind this game for a worldwide release as well. Cannot wait.
Also, it's not a port, it's a remake. I mean, look at the battle screen. It has people on it… Dragon Quest VIII was the first game to lost the "1st person view".
Great, now bring this over, put the firs three Dragon Quest games on the eShop and then give us an HD remake of DQ 8 for the Wii U and i'll be in heaven!
I recall hearing that 7 would be the next title to get the next remake treatment, and is cool news. I have 7, and finally beat it...played near the end but put it aside for a long time and finally got back to beating it, though took abit to figure what I did and had to do next.
So after all this time it turned out true. Does anyone remember when the rumors were flying of "the seventh entry of a popular Square-Enix RPG series" was coming to 3DS? I need to go find those articles. Be right back.

Since Square-Enix hasn't released Rocket Slime 3 or Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland in N.A. yet, I'm starting to get less excited when I hear that new Dragon Quest games are being made for 3DS in Japan.
Rocket Slime needs very little translation, so I wonder why they don't at least put it in the e-shop. It's been a year, after all. And why remake an RPG like Terry's Wonderland (a lot of work) if you aren't going to market it to the widest audience possible? Hopefully a localization is in the works.
And hopefully they've finally wised up and hired a full-time translator to do localizations during production, so that DQVII can have a worldwide launch when its eventually completed. It's not like 40k or 50k a year for a translator (just an english one at least) would have any impact at all on their overall budget.
I got 9 and it's pretty much grindgrindgrindgring story grindgrindgrindgrind and so on and so forth. With that said, I might get this one if a localization happens.

My broher is going to flip...78 and 10 are the only ones he hasn't played.

I still own the PSOne version (that I still haven't beaten).
This will be great for fans, and for those who may be interested.
It's looooooooooooooooong! Prepare to spend 100+ hours getting through this one.
Wow. I was always thinking a DQVII remake would come to 3DS. And last night, I was thinking about it.
Awesome. Cannot wait!

I get the feeling Nintendo will bring this one out internationally.
Banzai! Yeah! About time... and since it's a remake... well I'm already putting away cash to get this guy.

Please come to NA. I got the entire DS series and 1/2 + 3 on GBC. I got 8 on PS2 but it would be awesome if that came to 3DS since my PS2 died.
Wow, I wonder if it'll be another crappy dated Enix title :/
Was so hoping for a remake of FF7 for the 3DS :/
