GN Version 4.0
The following bits come from Rich of IGN. We will continue to update this as he tweets more and more information!

- Update adds a bar to the bottom of the menu with Miiverse, eShop, browser, Notifications and chat.
- Menu-to-Menu loading is slower than he would like. 10 seconds between screens.
- Setting up a Nintendo Network ID. The system will ask if you want to do it, but you can also go to user settings.
- System will asks if you are an existing member or using Nintendo Network for the first time.
- Need to confirm your account through an e-mail or a code.
- Miis assigned to the Nintendo Network have a blue selection background.
- There is an icon that indicates if you're posting about a game you've played.
- You can also indicate if you are a beginning gamer, intermediate or expert.
- eShop highlights New Super Mario Bros. U, Trine 2, ZombiU and Assassin's Creed 3 for download
- Under the eShop fold, Little Inferno, Scribblenauts, Mighty Switch Force, Nano Assault Neo, Chasing Aurora are available.
- Supported creditcards are Mastercard and VISA. You can't add more than $1800 to your eShop credit balance.
- Chasing Aurora: $14.99, 103MB.
- Trine 2: $19.99
- Little Inferno: $14.99
- Can download in eShop stuff in the background.
- Netflix is there. YouTube, Amazon and Hulu are coming soon.
- Also on eShop: Darksiders II, Epic Mickey, Ninja Gaiden, FIFA, Just Dance, Rabbids Land, Madden, Sonic, Warriors Orochi, SiNG Party.
- Hitting 'Home' now reveals a far more complete Menu screen for Wii U. Friends, Miiverse, eShop, browser all one touch away.
- Download Management: Look at the progression of your downloads. You can also tell system to shut off after.
- Netflix requires a small update.
- After a download is completed, it will ask if you want to install it, before you go back to the main menu.
- That message takes you to the Download Management screen. Tap the game to install.
- COD Black Ops II listed in eShop as 'Retail Only'. But eShop allows you to see screens, basic info, controller needs and more.
- Friendslist: You can set your online status and allow others to see what you're playing when you're online.
- Adding is relatively simple. Click '+' or hit Register Friend and enter their Nintendo Network ID (which is just a name). They confirm.
- You can also view your Play History, see who you've played with and add those folks too.
- Wii Mode: It checks to make sure you have a Wii remote paired. Effectively reboots as Wii.
- Weather channels and things seem to be gone. Wii Shop and all that is there.
- There is an electronic manual. And your Nintendo Network ID is required for the Wii Shop Channel.
