Here's a very important thing to keep in mind when utilizing the Wii mode on your Wii U. You will absolutely not be able to use anything that normally works with Wii U. That includes the Pro Controller. You're going for a full Wii experience with this backwards compatibility, so be prepared to be upset!

As expected. Annoying, but expected.
not buying a Wii U Pro controller. Seems useless. I'll stick with CCPro as its better and works on all games.
Very stupid. Get your act together and update these things, Nintendo.
Do you really expect Nintendo to go back an patch every VC and Wiiware game to use the new controllers?
Yes. Or maybe they shouldn't run in Wii mode. The whole thing is a mess.
@M1
At the very least I expected Nintendo to be more competent than Sony.
This is so damn stupid.
what a joke
if they did that, Nintendo would have to relicense every game from every developer, then each developer would have to patch their games.
Games to make them downloadable and playable to Wii U would require them to be rerated.
In the end it could take over a year and 10s of millions of dollars.
It really isn't worth it to make a few entitled gamers happy.
This is the kind of stuff I find utterly retarded on Wii U.
Who in their right mind thought it would be a great idea to makes these brilliant new controllers that are absolutely perfect for many of the Wii WiiWare and VC games, both the GamePad and the Pro Controller, yet not actually let you use them to play these blimmin games!
Utterly, utterly, retarded.
Excuses excuses.
Nintendo is making my choice to skip the Wii U launch appear more wise than I thought it would. I have plenty of wiiware games on my old Wii and it sounds like it's more convenient to just have my wii hooked up along side a potential Wii U.
These design choices make the Wii U experience seem a lot less seamless than a newly released console should be letting on.
Patch or gtfo Nintendo. This isn't the 1990's anymore. Catch up with technology!
If Nintendo stops doing this kind of dumb crap, having crap online Nintendo having the worst 3rd party support of the 3 consoles, and turn your updates around more (have bigger, better updates; not just crap the other consoles already have) and the WiiU is pretty much flawless.
You guys really think developers want to patch their Wii stuff to use the new controllers?
Hell no they don't want to take the time to do so.
Also Wii U's online is better than expected.
3rd parties expect to be paid for their support and they want the "hardcore" gamers and no one else.
So you want Nintendo to engage in a massive arms race with Microsoft (Hell Sony can't even afford it anymore)?
Yeah, I expected that when we couldn't use the gamepad. Also, patching all the old games for the new controllers would take time...
Eh, i'm happy with the Classic controller.
There are some Nintendo reps who are saying the exact opposite.
Can we get an update from the Big N?
Mike from Morgantown
Whiners, whiners...
I see no problem with this at all... Now I actually agree 100% with M1!
How does that make you feel?
I didn't like the "full wii experience" the first time I played it. Something so good...went soo wrong!
I think people are forgetting that the Wii is being emulated on a hardware level. That means upscaling, new controller support, etc are all going to be missing.
On the plus side, this means all games will work flawlessly without any glitching.
The CC Pro works just fine. What's the problem?
Some gamers expect all the Wii software to be patched to use the Wii U controllers.
