Yeah.... I don't buy it, since it's not a retail game. That like saying 'Crashmo' on the 3DS can play on an SD card. It's a E-Shop game, they are supposed to be able to run off a SD card because it's where it installs it to. If there is anyone out there that can show a retail download running of an SD card in this same fashion, I'll believe it then.

He mentions something about video capture (which he wasn't doing because of the gamepad screen) so I'm guessing he has a video input into his PC which he can then record.
Of course that works, it's just external storage via usb to the wii u. The wii u has no idea if its a hard drive, an usb memory stick, an sd card or what.
It was said that you cannot just stick an SD card into the SD card slot on the front, like with the wii and store downloaded stuff on it.
Nintendo even said you could use a usb memory stick if you want (just not recommended because of the amount of read/writes it'll go through) instead of a hard drive, because the wii u see's any storage connected via usb as the same, so obviously if you technically use an sd card via usb... it's going to be the same thing.
I guess without stating it directly it may not be that obvious to most, but I was expecting to see an sd card in the sd card slot, meaning you can use that slot in ways not mentioned, not seeing you being able to use the usbs exactly in the ways mentioned.
I guess the point is, or what I'm wondering is, why even make that restriction to not boot from its built-in SD card reader when you can easily do that in this way? It seems to be pretty pointless. But then I don't really know what the built-in SD card slot is supposed to be for... just savegames?
Mostly backwards compability with the Wii, I think.

Ohoho... Well that's cool/good to know, since I have one of those.

I figured this would work. I did I write-up of this on PidgiPress a week before launch (http://www.pidgi.net/press/2012/how-to- ... n-sd-card/), so I didn't know if it worked for sure.
Yah I was telling people this would likely work a week ago.
Still wanting to see an account system / log in solution before I funnel bits and pieces of my paycheck into the eShop.
Huh?

WTH, first the gamepad mic works for in-game voice chat and now this? I hope they dont remove features in a future update

I'll be testing this out
I suspect the reason to the "sd ban" is due to the fact that USB is way way faster than SD.
Nintendo be trollin'.
Correct.
Of course you could do it like this, lol. But it's still ingenious
