“I don’t know that there’s more substantial [things] for me to talk about but there’s a TON more things we have in the works, only some of which will be shared on December 17th. There’s a whole year of things that will happen… you’re only going to hear about what’s happening fairly close to the start of the celebrations at first.” - Capcom USA Senior Vice-President, Christian Svensson
Man, a year of waiting to see what Capcom has in-store for Mega Man fans. Let's hope this is the start of Mega Man's rebirth as one of the most important and recognizable game characters out there.

Hahahahahahahaha......Oh, he's serious?
...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH
The years worth of content is probably going to include a dark and edgy reboot released part way through the year, followed by a truck load of disc-locked dlc.
The announcement:
EVERY MONTH FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR WE WILL ADD ANOTHER COLOR OF BARA MAN IN STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN FOR ONLY $7.99 EACH!!! A BARGAIN AND AN AWESOME ADDITION TO AN AWESOME GAME! THAT OR BUY THE ULTIMATE ULTIMATE EDITION FOR A MERE $45 MORE!!!
I'll believe it when I see it.
I don't trust Capcom to do the right thing.
Well, I can't find an X collection for the GameCube, so I would like one for the Wii/Wii U...
Might as well hope for more things like Megaman X Street Fighter.
haha, is that a reference to Brett Elston of Capcom saying specifically that wouldn't happen?
Should be a great year for Mega Man!
It's time to get over the past and see what Capcom can cook up for us. Yep, they've made mistakes in the past. Let's move on and see what they do. They still make great games.
It´s ironic you said that, because Megaman X Street Fighter is a mere fan-game that Crapcom grab and made it oficcial because they don´t want make megaman games anymore.
MEGA. MAN. X.
Capcom guy one " we need to do something with Megaman. People want him."
Capcom guy two "Megaman merchandise! No need for games when we can sell coffee mugs and tshirts!"
Capcom guy three "brilliant! It'll cost us nothing to copy and paste his face one everything!"
Megaman "sigh......"
It begins. I have high hopes. I think Capcom has heard the fans and are going to deliver. They only want to do one 25th anniversary at a time, so 2013 will be the year of Mega Man.
Well, so far the best they've got is a beyond crappy iPhone game (even for iPhone games) and a fan game that they only put forward because it appeals to Street Fighter fans, validating the effort in their own eyes. Don't get me wrong, it looks fun and I'll certainly play it, but let's not kid ourselves here: Capcom is putting this out with the "Street Fighter 25th Anniversary" in just as large or larger a spotlight than the "Mega Man 25th Anniversary", and the trailer begins with Ryu literally throwing Mega Man off of his iconic Mega Man 2 opening tower. This isn't for us, it's for them, and how on earth they think that this is the imagery we want to see is well beyond my understanding. I felt the same way with other Capcom properties being featured in Mega Man Universe, but that was prior to three cancellations and a 25th Anniversary. I was a much less cynical person then.
I predict that they'll re-release the GameBoy Mega Man titles on the 3DS eShop all at once or within a week of each other, a move that Mega Man fans can actually appreciate. However, Capcom's year of Mega Man content will not include a physical release of anything. At the absolute most I could see them releasing is another 8-bit Mega Man 11 or a Mega Man Battle Network Collection on 3DS.
I'd be impressed with a 16-bit Mega Man X9 handled by IntiCreates but I don't see that happening. The saddest part is that a project like that would go the farthest way with mending wounds for the least amount of effort on Capcom's part. If they'd just keep the quality up there with the SNES trilogy, but hopefully redraw the sprite sheets for the characters, people would love it to pieces. Keep it 16-bit in spirit but don't stay chained down to the original three to such a degree that people would get tired of seeing it in two games time. It would be a very smart move on Capcom's part.
In my wildest dreams, Capcom releases a serious, HD console Mega Man X9, pulling out all the stops and making it a gorgeous, character/plot driven game with the same budget they give to Resident Evil and Devil May Cry. If that ever happens it won't be in time for the 25th Anniversary but that would blow people's socks off.
The problem is there's no pleasing everybody. When I saw the MM x SF trailer I was in 7th heaven. I grew up playing Megaman on NES and then SF in arcades. Its a match made in heaven, to me. But, not everyone feels that way.
Not every Megaman fan wants another 8bit game. or a 16bit game. or a Legends game. or an HD game. Everyone seems to have their own idea of how Megaman should be going forward.
They've got their work cut out for them at Capcom, now. Fans are going to have to understand that what they announce might not be "their" game. I don't see that happening.
