More rumors about a rumor! A little bit of Inception going on here. Remember that rumored Sonic game that we heard about recently? Now we're hearing that the game is being called Sonic Adventure 3 by SEGA. That name apparently might not stick, but that's what SEGA is using internally. Going with that name as the final title would certainly set expectations even higher.

I would hope that if this IS what they plan on doing, that they keep up with the more lighthearted, colourful atmosphere from recent games, with Eggman as the big villain, and not regress to the 'dark and edgy' storylines and monster-of-the-week format that Adventure and it' sequel unfortunately popularised. That is a rut that should be left in the past.
I would not be opposed to a Sonic/Tails/Knuckles/Amy game, as long as it played well.
If it has a Chao garden again, I'll consider it. Otherwise its got a lot to prove.
Chao garden in 2 was what took the game from okay to addicting for me.
Some of the worst music in the world? WHAT THE FUCK!? My eye's they MUST be deceiving me or your ears are deceiving you!
You're 10 years late SEGA! The game was an official promise after a survey between a new Nights, Monkey Ball and other titles from the Sonic Team at the end of the DC life. It was suposed to be a gift to say sorry to DC owners and thank you for your support all these years but it never saw the light. It's like Shenmue 3, you know SEGA people have moved on... espacialy after a certain Sonic 4!
I prefer Sonic Adventure to the Genesis games.
Then again, Sonic is a relic of the extreme 90s and I wouldn't mind seeing him disappear.
I have to agree with this dude, the music wasn't awful at all. Not the best, but worst in the world?
Again?
We've been thru this how many times now?
I want Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 on 3DS...
If Adventure 3 means the tropes of the Adventure series return (multiple characters to play as, Chaos) then I'd be all for it IF it actually played well on all fronts.
Adventure 1 had some cool moments as Sonic but was generally a mess. At the time it might have been cool but my first time playing through it properly outside of a few Sonic levels on Dreamcast around its release was last year on PS3 and really it isn't very good. Adventure 2 I hold a special place in my heart for as it was my first GameCube game and I played it to death, loved it and maintain that some of the Sonic levels in that are the some of the best in the series but still, that game was janky as hell in many aspects (including on some of the Soic/Shadow levels, arguably the best of the lot in that game).
I'd just rather them focus on getting the Sonic levels right before going back to multiple characters with different play styles. Generations and Colors are easily the best 3D Sonic games but even they still haven't nailed the gameplay yet, I feel.
If it weren't a buggy mess, it still wouldn't be a good game.
- Bland level design [Nothing pops out...you have a forest level, a beach level, a volcano level, a desert level...yawn]
- Fanfiction.net plot [Self-explanatory, don't need to say it here]
- Clashing graphical style [Realism doesn't work with Sonic, I'm sorry]
- Questionable gameplay design choices [Don't make me play as a character I have to use regardless]
Though it IS proof that the "Adventure" shtick is worn out. Sonic games have no need for 'hubs' and such, it's a speedy platformer. Stage to stage works just fine.
As for music... I HIGHLY disagree with the saying that it's the worst. It's anything BUT bad.
Also don't get the appeal for the chao garden... Isn't that the opposite of what Sonic is about?
If it's not Nintendo exclusive, forget it!
I'm not interested in any PS360 multi platform crap games anymore. Multiplatform means, it's the worst you can get.

Sonic Adventure 3 is the only Sonic game I am not looking forward too. I recently purchased a Dreamcast for myself along with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. Sonic Adventure was a boring, broken, mess that floated along on it's graphics alone. The only decent part of the game is how nice it looks and how nice the music is. The gameplay however is broken to such a ridiculous degree that it's only rival is Sonic 2006, which in my eyes is Sonic Adventure 3 in everything but the name.
It took the flaws of the Adventure games and multiplied them by two or three but the Adventure games still had them. I played all the way through Sonic Adventure and obtained each and every medal, and here's what I remember the most: falling through the floor more times than I could count, veering off over a thousand death cliffs at the slightest twitch of the analog stick, controls not adapting to scripted changes of camera angle, and Sonic's horrible habit of falling through or otherwise ruining what were supposed to be scripted sequences.
I put in Sonic Adventure 2 and quit as soon as I saw that the lip sync and still awful, voice acting was still atrocious, the music, which was 50/50 on the quality scale had dipped to 20/80 and Knuckles had a rap theme. No thanks. I still haven't found the will to try again. Please stay on the Generations and Colors model, SEGA. Don't repeat your past mistakes. I don't want people to have any more reason to laugh at the franchise or SEGA in general. If you can retain the spirit of Adventure with the gameplay and general level of competence and platforming mastery of Colors and Generations, I'm all set. If "Sonic Adventure 3" means anything more literal than that, I can't say I'd check it out.
If it's wrong, fans will be disappointed. If it's right, the game will be compared to visions of old through rose-colored glasses and likely fail with fans no matter how good it is. dividing the fanbase even more. See, win-win!
I'd argue that Sonic Adventure 2 battle not even close t not even close to mediocre otherwise otherwise I agree completely
The funny thing in this topic is that everyone hates the adventure games.
I'd go as far as to say SA2:B is my favorite platformer of all time!
It's not the nostalgia either. I think either I'm missing something or people aren't seeing what I'm seeing. But SA2/B was and still is an amazing game. Gameplay is what is most important and they KILL that. It's so fun to play.
And the music. My god. Probably some of the best I've ever heard. Pumpkin Hill and Meteor Herd were amazing. Mad Space is great. Sky Rails is just nummy... And Metal Harbor and Supporting Me (VS Biolizard) are some of my favorite tracks in gaming history.
I don't think silly things like voices not matching mouth movements should be considered a flaw to a game when I love to think the Gameplay and Music are the main driving forces to a game. -shrug- I don't even like Sonic that much.
Funny. I usually classify SA/SA2 and Sknic Heroes as the worst games I ever played. Bar none.
And yes, I played/beat Superman 64. In hard mode. The Sonic Adventure games are worse.
Count me out. Baffled by Adventure fans.
@MaggotCakes This - I'd be more excited for the return [and expansion] of the SA2 Chao Gardens etc. than a new Sonic game, probably [and I'm a big Sonic / Sega fan]!
SA3 was 06 [or Heroes - take your pick], though.
I loved Sonic Adventure, I hope it is a 3rd installment.
This times 1000. I have played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle to DEATH. I have 99 lives with every character in my main file, and a slew of awesome Chao. I always play this game with my best friend whenever I see him (which isn't often since we're going to school in different provinces). I've just started the PC version of SA2B and it's amazing. I'd be playing it more if I weren't so busy with school.
And I can honestly say that Sonic Adventure 2 has some of my #1 favourite music tracks ever. All of my friends love It Doesn't Matter (Sonic's theme) and Escape from the City. Supporting Me is also an amazing song. I've listened to it so much that I feel like it's a part of me (I even rewrote the lyrics to represent one of my characters). I can sing along to any of Knuckles' songs (except for his theme song, which I'm not too fond of). A Ghost's Pumpkin Soup is especially brilliant. Shadow's songs are just amazingly dark and awesome. For True Story, Throw it All Away, Vengeance is Mine, The Supernatural, Rhythm and Balance... ah, heaven! Tails' theme, Rouge's jazzy stage songs and theme songs, Sonic's awesome rock (Won't Stop, Just Go!) and who can forget Live and Learn? Heck, I have a whole set of hand/arm gestures worked out to match the lyrics to Escape from the City and A Ghost's Pumpkin Soup. XD
I just haven't enjoyed a Sonic game as much as I've enjoyed SA2B (I've played Sonic 1, 2, Colors, Secret Rings, Generations, Riders, Rush, Advance 1 & 3, and Heroes). Although I admit I will ALWAYS enjoy the music (for 3D Sonic games anyway). Yup, to me the best part of a new Sonic game coming out is a new brilliant OST to listen to.
Okay, I'll stop now. I'll stop now.
"SA2:B is my favorite platformer of all time!"
What.. WHAT? I don't know whether to laugh because it might be a troll/joke or allow my brain to promptly pop like a water balloon and drip out of my ears.
Did I really just read that?
I hope this game turns out to be good. More similar to SA1 and 2, hopefully. I also really want chao garden to return. I spend hours playing that.
I think we can agree to disagree here. SA2 is one highly polarizing game, from what I've seen (especially in terms of its music).
I know it's an old topic, but is there any real evidence for this rumour? I mean, I looked through the NeoGAF link posted, but nothing said anything about the name Sonic Adventure 3 being confirmed as either true or a code name, and very little of the topic itself even gave a source.
The music is personal preference. I quite like some of it. But best platformer of all time? Really??
