I completely understand you but you have to understand one thing. This is not a decision taken by the development team, this comes from really really high up, so please don't pick on the game.
If you're pissed, imagine how we feel. Think on the situation, we've been making overtime with this game practically since May preparing E3, and then almost a demo per month (gamescon, Wii U presentation, shops, eShop, etc...) and at the same time trying to actually finish the game. We had a first delay because it was obvious we couldn't finish on time but we gave it all to be there on February. What face do you think we had when the week we had to close the game we're being told it's not going to be released? I couldn't believe it.
For practical matters, you'll have to wait for some months for the game to be released and will most likely serve for more content to be added and do it better. For us, this means we've spent 6 months barely seeing our wifes, kids, and friends for nothing because, after all, such a haste wasn't needed. Believe it, it was a hell to swallow these news.
Even then I'm firm in what I said back in the day, Rayman Legends is an excellent game and will still be, and the team that's making it doesn't deserve to have your back turned on them just because some men in ties one day took a wrong choice. This industry is really that shitty. - Xavier Poix
A situation like this really, really sucks. I know many of you want to boycott the game, but you're also boycotting the work that all those devs put in. The time, effort and stress levels that all rose during those months. They get crapped on, but they don't want you to crap on the game for it. What's an angry gamer to do?

What I'm upset about is that they would delay a finished game for 7 months because Microsoft and Sony fans are upset. When was the last time this has ever happened the other way around? Did they delay Batman Arkham City for Wii U release, or Aliens Colonial Marines? Hell no, and why would they, it makes no sense. This is a completely stupid move on Ubisofts part. Nintendo seems to have been really supportive of them, making Rayman the only playable demo on all the Wii U demo units, and being very supportive of ZombiU, even making it a pack in game with the Wii U in a lot of places.
I do feel bad for the developers for what Ubisoft did. But, unfortunately this will cause me to not buy the game for a long time until it's dirt cheap. Not for the sake of boycotting, but because there are going to be so many games out I want far more by the time this releases, I just won't give a crap about it any more. Not to mention Pokemon X&Y will be coming out shortly after, so I won't be playing much of anything besides that for a while. This is a ridiculous move, and will cost them sales regardless of any boycott.
And another thing, this game, from what I've played has been designed specifically with the gamepad in mind. it's going to have to be dramatically altered for release on X-Box/PS3, and I think those versions will not be as good. This is definitely the version I will get, they just aren't getting the full price out of me now.
It's by contract. You get a fixed salaries. It doesn't matter how many hours you work, as long as the game is finished, everyone keeps getting paid... But if the game doesn't sell well, or the game isn't finished properly... Well you have to know where the door is, or they'll throw you through it. (Yeah, I know, overly simplified, but it's the gist of it)
@Elfteiroh
So they got/get paid up until release, then it depends on sales whether they keep their employment. honestly though, would it be so bad to get fired if the game bombs? at least you wouldn't be working for people who don't appreciate what you did to get the game ready in time only to screw you over.
Could care less this is going multiplatform. What I do care about is that they delayed it to the busy part of the year when I have other games to buy because of it. They could have just released the Wii U version and a late port to the other consoles, like they would do with Wii U games getting ported from the 360/PS3, but they didn't. So they lost my sale because I have bigger priorities come this fall.
We don't even know how far along the game was. Everyone is assuming the game was finished because we're a few weeks away from the release date that was set. Ubisoft didn't make the annoucement the same day they made their decision.
I understand why everyone is frustrated and angry at Ubisoft, however I'm trying to look at it from their perspective. Do you think they want to piss off Nintendo fans, or have some kind of vendetta against Nintendo? Get real, people. They made a business decision. Now let's examine why they felt they had to make this call.
@ridleysaria
We don't know how far along the game was, but the team working on it does. A member on the staff went online and mentioned it was completed. Furthermore an official statement from someone at Ubisoft mentioned it's delay was so it could launch on all platforms at once.
There seemed to be some doubts about whether or not that he's actually a developer on the game. Some people are saying he's a PR guy. I dunno who's right.
Sure hope people don't boycott it. Played the demo at the kiosk, seemed like a lot of fun. There is no such things as too many 2D platformers.
Does anybody else feel like part of the decision was just so they dont have to create a marketing campaign for this game twice? I know i might be way off, but i feel like they would cheap out if they didnt think it was worth a second time around and figured they could save a buck by doing it all at once.
We know that Mario Kart is coming, most likely this year. 3D Mario is coming, rumblings indicate that it will be out this year. The Wind Waker remake is coming this year. I have The Wonderful 101, Wind Waker, Pikmin 3 and Bayonetta 2 pre-ordered. That's just for Wii U. There are two other consoles getting a blizzard of games from September to December. Possibly two new consoles coming into the market by the end of the year with their own launch games and third party specifics. Ubisoft itself is releasing AC4 in the same period. I wasn't going to buy Rayman, but how does releasing at the end of the year make good business sense for Rayman from any standpoint, for any console. This game is going to tank.
The meme of Asian Dad works very well to put major publishers in a nutshell;
"You reached 10 million? Why not 20 million?!"
"You gone gold on you game? Why not gone platinum?"
Seriously, indie developers are becoming more and more welcoming cause of the free roam artistic talents aren't straddled by pressuring demands of making an asinine deadline, with all the bells and whistles intact, then expect to do it quicker next time.
Seriously my hearts go out to the developers with families, as even myself cannot see my dogs often when working. I can only imagine a full family. However, this type of time-delay nonsense is just not right. Release the Wii U version on time, give the players what they want and don't have them forced to wait to ultimately not buy it and move on to greener pastures.
I was on the fence on getting this game. I have no history with Rayman so it was always an iffy purchase for me. Since Jan and Feb were so empty I was thinking to get it... but not any more. I suppose it saves me money to buy a different game.
I don't get why (besides being pissed off) people wouldn't be able to get the game in September. Even if they think they think they can't afford it or whatever, they can still buy it at some later time when they can. Are you guys really that broke or really that impatient?
Do we know if that poster is legit?
With wiiu's current sales numbers this move was all but guaranteed, now, delaying the probably finished wiiu version is really dumb.
I'm still annoyed but at least that's a realistic sensible answer . I just don't know what i'll do then , i was just waiting to finish nsmb u and trine 2 in multiplayers session and between now and wii party 2 (august maybe) there would have been a lot of opportunity to get the game . I'm sure whether it's real or not the actual feelings cannot be that far off . well we'll see
Much better than boycotting the game is to launch a letter campaign demanding the immediate release of the Wii U version. Not only it is ready to ship now but it will prevent Ubisoft to pull an EA and make the game equal in all platforms by removing the Gamepad exclusive functions.
It really sucks that you have to use the ordinary workers as stepladders to reach the assholes at the top. I don't have much against the game eventually releasing on PS3 and 360 but after all the big talk Ubisoft's done about their suport for Wii U it's incredibly disrespectful of them to delay the game just to make a simultaneous launch. Just think of how many times nintendo fans have been forced to wait for games already released for other systems, why can't the PS360 gamers wait for once? I'll probably get the game at some point but it won't be at launch.
I reckon you're right - they know that Wii U doesn't have a lot of games, even in September people will still not have a massive choice of games for the system so it's likely that more Wii U owners by then that it's numbers would still be the same as if they released it now - Combine it with the other platforms and market it all at once and save the cash on having to market it twice.
I have some sympathy for the developers but it's not as if this is the first game they've ever made - they know how the industry is and what is involved with making games. It's not as if they're working on a commission.
Game-making is an ugly, ugly business.
I will still support them if I can. This was a dick move by Ubisoft. Screwing over their own devs and Wii U owners like this. If people want to boycott the game, I can't say I blame them.
It's always the guys at the top that are the f'n a-holes!
I hate these faceless men in suits who just seem to ruin everything for everyone. These are the people who make companies go out of business imo because they just don't seem to think about the end consumer at all and only think about the money. Even when that will only ultimately lead to a loss of both customers and money in the long run.
Who gave these people this kind of power in the first place.
Boycott anyways.
Mt. Dev seems to have forgotten that he already got paid for his work. And if he got paid overtime, damn.... I dont get paid overtime when I work late ( I am on salary) so he's already in better shape than I. Yet he still wabts me to take this abuse and buy his game?
No. Go back to Ubisoft punk.
Mr. Dev isn't abusing you and if you think he is over a delay that was out of his power then maybe gamers are becoming a little too entitled for their own good
Seriously guys I understand a boycott but I see no reason not to back the fuck off the developers here, seriously. Instead of you know making yourselves out to be jaded cynical pieces of dogshit like myself
I am annoyed at Mr. Dev for pretending to take our side then turn around and spout out Ubisoft PR crap as if he is one of EA's hired trolls. "Maybe the game will be better thanks to the delay". Please. His statement reeks of PR nonsense.
Bien joué Ubisoft, pas d'achat pour moi, plus la très mauvaise pub que je vais en faire autor de moi, de mauvaise foi et tout, oeil pour oeil Hankulés va!
