RUMOR - Aliens: Colonial Marines tester says Wii U version is the worst

“Oh wow. Yes okay. I was hoping someone would ask this. I have played the WiiU version. The one that is supposedly the best of all of them? It is not. It is the worst. It is a bit of a joke. The WiiU is basically the same game as the console version but with framerate issues, worse texture loading, and horrendously misguided minigames thrown in. You get a ‘scanner’ to scan enemies and get bonus points that aid your harming them. When you cut open doors (which happens a lot in the game) you have a game where you have to keep the heat ‘optimal’. They just add frustration, and take away even more from the fun. We don’t know if it will come out, Sega are conisdering canceling it, but right now its still going.” - game tester

Honestly, after the reception this game received and the subsequent fighting over who is responsible, is anyone who pays attention still thinking of picking this game up? I can see the uninformed buying it on brand name alone; but is anyone who has watched this thing unravel still looking forward to the Wii U version?

If nintendo was in a stronger position with regards to install base and third party sales on their platform, you'd like to think they would withhold approval for multiplatform titles that turn out markedly worse on wiiu than other systems.

I can dream.

I'm no longer excited for this game but I can see Wii U owners who are STARVING for software buy it if it releases soon maybe if it has a reduced price.

I had a feeling this would happen since it seems game companies/developers are just giving up on the Wii U. I guess we have to wait for a few years until it's picking up full steam because right now the sales of the Wii U are not good but again hopefully it picks up

To be honest, I probably wouldn't have trusted him if he had said that it's better than the other two versions...

Not sure what to think -- especially after account deleted.

Sounds like a total mess all the way around. And "best" and "worst" are relative terms here.

So after a ubi boycott, a gearbox one is on the way!

"The WiiU is basically the same game as the console version"
Wait, so the Wii U version.. isn't a "console version"?

"but with framerate issues, worse texture loading"
Both of the other versions have this as well, the only one not as affected is the PC version. The way this tester is talking makes me think hes a dudebro gamer

@gtt

Then people would whine about games not coming to Wii U. It's a vicious cycle.

@Zanreo

That caught my eye as well. Not sure what he is calling the Wii U if it's not a console.

@my name is S

Boycott Ubisoft all you want, but if you boycott Rayman Legends, you're hurting the devs behind it, not Ubisoft, and they wanted the game to come out now and protested it and wasted hours of their lives trying to finish the game by the deadline to get it out in February, only to have Ubisoft say LOL NO.

If anything, boycott everything from them BUT Rayman Legends. Not buying it will just doom Rayman altogether, which isn't really fair. The devs finished it to get it out to people like you in time. It's not their fault Ubisoft hates you.

As for Gearbox, that's fine. You're just losing out on Borderlands, and that's debatable if you're missing out or not.

not really a surprise but it does seem to line up with the usual nintendo games are full of minigames , you'll never hear shooter are full of unplayable sequences, of crashing helicopter and qte. I agree it's the case of another dudebro man . The game is horrible but it got to be WAYYYY worse on a nintendo , otherwise .... i don't understand their logic

Pretty sure he was trying to say that the WiiU version is going to be the same as the other console versions as opposed to being similar to the PC version.

well that would make absolutely no sense because this game has been planned to be on the Wii U since 2011

That's annoying, but then again the game seems to be mediocre at best on other consoles so it's really not a big loss.

Sounds like someone just wanted to add fuel to the already steady fire: 'I was hoping someone would ask this' to me.

Alas, Aliens was hot last year, not this year. It wouldn't have sold much even if it had been actually complete.

It's sad that I've seen Nintendo fanboys who still believe that Wii U will get the best version of anything multiplatform. It would require the right combination of developer with the ability and a publisher willing to give them both the time and money. It doesn't exist.

No. If the game was actually finished, gotten good reviews it would sell way better. Many Alien fans, like me, were very eager to get our hands on this game. I am still going to try it out. A score will not change my mind. But all these bugs might.

Anyway. Bottom line is that the game would sell way better if finished.

Well, from what we know so far, Wii U is getting the best version of Need For Speed. Probably the best version of Rayman, and maybe the best version of RE: Revelations as well.

You're probably right about Rayman, given how it started development on Wii U and the fact that the demo is so solid. With the others I believe you're pinning your hopes on what PR people have said. It'd be nice if you're right, but I no longer have faith in what I can't see for myself.

Pass! Buy LEGO City!

To be honest, I'm not surprised. It's a PS360 game, based on 8 years old hardware, what did you expect? I don't buy multi platform games anymore. OK, BF3 and FC3 PC of course, who wants to play at a horrible framerate with ugly visuals anymore, I won't.

I'll be very surprised if we see this game actually get a Wii U release. I'll also be surprised if we don't see some sort of lawsuit between Sega and Gearbox.

It's going to be funny when Sega blames Nintendo for the dingy sales of the WiiU version. You know that's going to happen, right?
