Want Okami 2 for Wii U? Platinum says to ask Capcom

The following is a response/retweet from Platinum's Hideki Kamiya...

Ask Capcom. RT @ZeldaPrime: WiiU is to good for Okami 2! HD console and big touchscreen controller! Get on making Okami 2, Kamyia-san

Now you could take one of two ways. This could mean Platinum has interest, but Capcom own the IP, so they'd have to collaborate. The other way this could be taken all has to due with Kamiya's demeanor on Twitter. He loves to tease people, so a comment like this could simply mean ask Capcom to make it, seeing as how Platinum has no stake.

No kidding; at this point I think he's sick of people asking him for things he can't do. That being said, I would like to see the guys who made Okamiden do a new entry for the Wii U.

I'd be willing to pick this up again especially since my Wii died (memory corruption) right at the point of no return, which I think was the half way mark.

@LegendofSantiago
@Aiddon
Yeah im inclined to agree, i wouldnt put much stock behind this. Although there may be the off chance capcom wants to hire them to make a few games after what happened with DmC, so maybe there could be something to it if that scenario happened.

Easy.... demand the sacking of Sven and when he gets the boot and replaced with someone that actually cares about the Wii U @ Capcom then we'll see some hope

Yeah, they proved they learned from doing the Wii port to make a good sequel. Okamiden was good, it was just hindered by trying to be a console game on the DS.

Next week in gaming magazines.

This is a pretty typical Kamiya response meaning it isn't up to them because Platinum are just the developers. He has said this in regards to Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, putting Bayonetta 1 on the Wii U, and pretty much every game that him/Platinum/Clover were involved in that fans ask for.

For all of the na sayers that say it won't happen, there is still hope, the ds version was made which is a sequel of sorts to the console version, & The game would fit like a glove on the wii u pad, perfect for all the special drawing gameplay in the game!

Also, it would create sales!
There is a market of people who would buy this game from name alone.

So theres hope i think it all matter how Nintendo markets the wii u system & how well the wii u sells before games like this would be considered.
Go Wii U.

He always says this stuff man. I had to unfollow him on twitter because he is never not on twitter. And he was flooding my feed. It's insane.

If I unfollowed everyone who flooded my Twitter feed, I'd hardly have anyone worth following left. I can't leave my Chrome extension alone for 10 minutes without the notifications raking in.

well that one is quite simple , everytime kamiya says "Ask capcom" that means no they cannot do that . I'm sure he used that before . He recently said that bayonetta 2 and wonderful 101 could be ported if nintendo said so .
I just recently got wonderful viewtiful word play

This is grasping at straws, not really news.

Kamiya is being his usual self, because frankly people that don't know a lick about how the gaming industry works are asking the right kinds of questions to the wrong people.

Why would anyone ever even say that? Okami was a masterpiece. Okamiden was an.....OKAY reimagining done by people NOT originally involved with the development of the real game.

Anyway, the problem with the idea of a sequel to Okami in the first place, is that it really was a self contained story. The game was very lengthy as it was, stuffed with loads of content, and when you got the ending, that was it. The End. Making a new game with a new storyline, brinking Amaterasu back down to earth in wolf form again to confront some new evil....in some way it honestly would feel rather forced. Some games simply do not need sequels.

Would I love to see another game in the same STYLE, same universe even, but with totally new characters? Absolutely. But making a new game with Amaterasu again would feel kind of like a cash grab.

I don't understand what you mean.

Okami on Wii U would be a good fit.

Of course Okami would be a perfect fit, I am absolutely livid that only Sony gets the original HD remaster, Broly is just saying this twitter post means literally nothing and doesn't warrant an article on the site.

Because the original was on PS2?

Where the least people bought it, Sony didn't deserve the game back then and they deserve it even less now. Besides, from a gameplay standpoint the game belongs on Wii U, where there's the potential for options to play it any way you want: PS2 style, Wii style or Okamiden style.

I do think the paintbrush mechanic (which they honestly didn't exploit enough, could have been far more elaborate than merely painting symbols on the screen), would work great on the GamePad.

But @Reynard, I hate to be the guy to say so, but actually Okami did sell slightly better on PS2. It sold around 630k on PS2, and about 520k on Wii. Still, both sold decently. And Wii U should get an HD edition for download as well.

Given the poor attach rate of 3rd party games on the Wii, 500k is not too bad and pretty much expected for a late, unadvertised, flawed port. Comparatively however, given the system install base and solid software sales, the PS2 Okami numbers are a joke.

Then the sequel came exclusively to a Nintendo platform. So why exactly does Sony, and only Sony, get the HD original again?

But RMC didn't imply that the twitter post meant a lot did he? It seems like he went out of his way to do the opposite.

GoNintendo is a blog which posts tiny tidbits. Anything goes on here. This is not like IGN where they post 2-3 page articles on news.
