Coming from developer Phil Fish...
started playing my first monster hunter game last night. on 3DS. it's not exactly playable without that circle pad pro atrocity... i don't understand. why would you even release a game like that on a platform like that? why is it not out on let's say... vita? you know, the one where you could control the camera. it's too bad because MH looks like it's basically phantasy star online but not in space. and i love me some PSO. the whole entire thing was a mistake if you ask me.
also, im so sick of this dual-screen clamshell bullshit. a 2nd screen adds NOTHING. it's a gimmick. 3D is a gimmick. it's too bad the vita isnt a bigger hit because hardware wise it's PERFECT. it has ONE AWESOME SCREEN, and TWO JOYSTICKS. there's never been a single DS or 3DS that didnt make me go "i wish this was on a single screen". and i've never played any game ever anywhere where i was like "i wish this had a 2nd screen". and absolutely f@$#ing NOBODY ever went "i wish this had 2nd screen that is smaller and a different aspect ration and touch but not 3D" the gameboy micro was the best handheld ever. i wish nintendo would just make a slightly bigger more powerful GBAM-type thing.

Well to begin with, this is a essentially a Nintendo-based site, so chances are most people are going to be Nintendo fans.
That being said, you are correct that people are entitled to their own opinion. Expressing it in a way to create informed debate shows intelligence. However, expressing it in a way to intentionally illicit derisive comment shows intent to troll. Given Phil Fish's history, I think we know which one this is.

While the guy is entitled to his opinion on platforms (not that I agree with him) it's what he said to Japanese developers that made me decide to never buy Fez. That went beyond opinion to ignorant and disrespectful.

@TheWon Same here, I'm kinda fed up with all these articles about people bashing Nintendo stuff. We know this happens à lot on the internet but I for one don't like seeing that much on this website.
Phil's a bit more high profile than "anyone", albeit for bad reasons.
Seriously I hope we PC gamers follow through on our [usually impotent] rage for once and make Fez fail on Steam. Once the community page for the game goes live it needs to be flooded with all the awful things Phil has said and done. The guy needs a reality check, and by that I mean he needs to get wrecked.
Oh god. I wanted Fez for wii U, but now I don't after realizing what a moron he is. He doesn't use good grammar, makes statements that aren't even true (The vita isn't perfect, and neither is the 3DS), And he acts like a 5 year old doing so.
Before this idiot opens his mouth, maybe he should design an at least mediocre game. That's how badly made Fez is. Every time he opens his mouth he just digs his grave even deeper. Braid and Flower and Limbo suck, but they have public support. This guy's game not only sucks, but it also has NO support. It got its 9/10s as expected and then everyone forgot about it. People still harp on about the "depth" and "innovation" of Flower and Braid, NO ONE talks about Fex or this douche bag. And every time he say something, his support only drops. His only friends are his circlejerk of half-a-dozen hipster twitter friends.
If this guy was a part of my development team, I would fire him. He is terrible at representing Polytron.

But considering what Phil has said before, I'm not surprised. I now feel even worse for giving this guy money when all I got back was an amazingly medicore game (Indie =/= good!).
if he was stating his opinion, then that would be one thing. but the dude is being openly inflammatory and attacking something "fanboys on this forums" care about (it is called "gonintendo", after all). of course people are going to be defensive and call him out for viciously trashing something that doesn't really deserve it. concealing it under the guise of "opinion" doesn't make him any less guilty of being a douche.

Wow, he helped make one indie game and now he thinks he is god's gift to game developing - well that's what his tweets insinuate. He's entitled to his own opinion, blah blah but as a game developer, you've got to be humble - do you hear Sakurai, Miyamoto, Kojima or any other developer taking the piss out of other devs/companies, NO. If he is gonna give his opinion on subjects which will be picked up by journalists, he should do it in a better way, more respectful way - not like a 12 year old kid.
He didn't just help make the game. As far as I know he was the main force behind it. Fez was actually a good game too, which is a shame since it was made by this guy.
I think sites calling this news are partly to blame though. gonintendo is just fanning the flames and that other article he tweeted was just flame bait.
Though i agree with his overall opinion about the circle pad and 2 screen gaming, I also agree that he could've been more constructive with his criticism. It seems he's also got the support of several indie devs like DannyBStyle and Adam Saltsman. He's got 3 or 4 studios coming to his defense on this.
