Intelligent Systems still interested in more Advance Wars games

Well, whether it's Fire Emblem or the Advance Wars, we never want to put an end to any series we're involved with. We always want to make games that provide a lot of fun to gamers, so if we have the chance, we'd certainly like to make another [Advance Wars] title. - Masahiro Higuchi

I'd be shocked if a new entry didn't hit the 3DS at some point. Keep those fingers crossed tightly!

I'm currently playing Advance Wars: Dual Strike and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin for the first time, and I'd certainly play the series' future entries. But how about a return to consoles? and an explanation on why Days of Ruin was never released in Japan (despite being developed there).

At this point, its probably too little too late. AW does horrible in Japan to the point of them not even getting DoR. With Fire Emblem doing even better over here, it would literally be a waste of time and money making that series. I say this with both DS games and the GBA games. I thought DoR was excellent. But unless the change up the series (maybe make it a bit similar to FE) then I don't think it will make a comeback.

The 3DS already has an incredibly amount of TRPG games. While another would be great, I wouldn't mind seeing the return of some other Nintendo Franchises first...

If FE is doing great, then that's a greater reason for them to make a new AW game. They can use all they learned from FE and apply it to AW new game.

RoD wasn't that succesful because the new more "gray" atmosphere and all the Apocaliptic stuff (I think) but it was rather a good game, kinda like the new Castlevania (good game but different).

I'm still wating for FE to be released in my country so I can just talk about the FE demo, but I'm sure it would be great to have a new AW the next year ... don't know how much time it would take to make it, but lets hope we get it :D

I am ADORING Fire Emblem: Awakening, but I think it'd be good to see them take a creative break from that to do something else, then come back to FE when they've had time to rethink certain things.

I'd love to see another Advance Wars...in fact, I'm disappointed they're not already working on it. I spent untold hours on both DS entries, just a fantastic series. C'mon Nintendo, make it happen. Day 1 purchase here.

I really hope they do make a new Advance Wars game, but please guys, don't do another grimdark take on the series like Days of Ruin. That game was pretty good, but the story and atmosphere just weren't any fun at all. I know war is terrible, I don't enjoy seeing human beings with lives and families being destroyed, I just want to play with little cartoon tanks and don't need a story that tries to make me feel guilty about it.

Intelligent Systems honestly has yet to impress me outside of the first three Paper Marios. I don't particularly care what they do with this franchise.

I would rather like to see them dream up some new IPs, though.

I was never interested in strategy games until my friends convinced me to try Advance wars on GBA. I've since played every game and would love an AW with the amount of content in FE:A. It'd be mind-blowing.

I second this.

And while you're at it, Nintendo, I would definitely love to see another Batallion Wars game (possibly for the Wii U), as well, 'if' Kuju Entertainment is interested. ^_^

It's going to need a rethink, because just more of the same...I mean, it's fun, but if you played one, you've played them all.

You look at Nintendogs 3DS and Animal Crossing Wii, it's just more of the same...it's nice, but not that nice! Online would help too...

I really hope they go about and make a new one! I also hope 3DS gets the older GBA Advanced Wars as well as the Goldensuns on the VC.

Fire Emblem is better but I wouldn't mind another AW.

Ever since Wii U's unveiling I have been dreaming of Cannon Fodderish Battalion Wars;
a 3rd person shooter on TV,
and tactical, but very fast paced RTS on the tablet.

Yeah, the second screen possibilities for the Wii U GamePad should definitely work wonders for an RTT (Real-time tactics) game like BW since most of the menus will be controlled seamlessly with the touch screen. ^_^

That, and:
I was also thinking about commanding your team mates more accurately than before in this type of game by drawing routes for them. Like, "private Jimmy, you go around that car and dash behind that cover, and private Cordon, you sneak behind that tree and throw a grenade into that enemy bunker etc etc". Keeping the team size small, you could make the game play both really tactical, but still very fast paced action game, and with Wii U, you could still control your own character at the same time, making a very unique tactical action game.
