Tales producer says Wii U is brilliant, no plans for Tales on Wii U

Coming from a Kotaku interview...

"I think the Wii U is a brilliant console that offers a lot of innovation and possibility for new types of gameplay. However at this current time we don't have any development plans to make any Tales of games for the Wii U." - Hideo Baba

The system is SO brilliant that Baba can't even fathom the idea of bringing a Tales title to the Wii U! Man, what a compliment!

Why am I suddenly thinking of every woman who told me she has a friend who'd be perfect for me?

I think Ninokuni as an RPG would make the most sense to bring to WiiU, since it would benefit from the ascetic enhancements of the PS3-version while still maintaining the drawing mechanic!

But a new Tales of game would be amazing!

JRPGs are all going to portables anyway, nothing strange here.

Have some more cries guys.

I guess every developer who thinks that the Wii U is a good idea is also morally obligated to begin planning projects for it immediately or they're scumbags. They never said they never would. Sounds like they don't have any Tales games in the pipeline for this generation right now.

It's not like the Tales series is anything special anyway. IMO.

I'm not saying immediately, but how many devs who said the Wii was a brilliant console actually made a good game for it? Bet you I could count them on one hand.

Dude, Namco has sucked for years anyway. They bothered making Tales of Graces originally exclusive to Wii, then didn't even bother localizing it for the west. Good job guys.

@Kroisos

This is actually a hilarious comparison.

I lost faith in the guy years ago. He can talk all the crap he wants with the Wii U

I really get tired of these comments.
"This system is amazing!"
"Games for it? Nah, we aren't making any...WE DONT KNOW HOW IT COULD WORK"

-_-

RMC seriosuly calm down. That snippy comment wasn,t necessary, just be patient.

I suppose some here think every single person without a Wii U game in development should trash talk the console or at best just plain ignore the question and keep silent when someone asks them about it.

There's a perfect phrase for this in Spanish, and since I don't know how to say it in English (or even if it exists in that language), I'll say it in Spanish: La misma gata pero revolcada.

It is okay, he could just be lying about the no-plans bit.

I mean, he did say the Wii U was brilliant in its current state. As someone who owns the system, that does not inspire me to trust anything else he says.

I'm not following your train of thought Baba. Was this just to be nice?

I'm sure they'll have something down the road but I'm not expecting anything at this time. I'm expecting to see some handheld content in the near future though.

So like with Kojima and his Sony character in SSBB, yet another Third Party is giving no reward back in return for the opportunity?

Sounds legit.

No. But if you talk up the console like it's amazing, it might at least be nice to indicate that you WANT to make a game for it.

Can't argue with that

Solid Snake existed before the PlayStation. That's like saying Mega Man was a Nintendo character or Rolling Thunder was a SEGA franchise.

The internet seems to like to act like no Metal Gear games existed before Metal Gear Solid. Whether that's because they don't like the NES ones or because they don't know they exist, I have no clue.
