Pokemon X/Y - latest round of rumors

This info comes from the same source that accurately detailed the most recent Pokemon X/Y Pokemon reveal.

Pancham evolves into Pangoro in the early level 30s. In order to evolve Pancham into Pangoro, you need to have one other Dark-type Pokemon in your party. Pangoro's type is Fighting/Dark.

A Pokemon named Inkay evolves into Malimar. To evolve it, you have to hold your 3DS upside-down when it levels up (the 3DS has an accelerometer and gyroscope, so it can detect that). Malimar's type is Dark/Psychic.

A Psychic-type Pokemon named Espurr (ESP + purr) evolves into Meowstick (Meow + mystic?). (Sounds like Psychic-type cats. Meowstick's name sounds too similar to Meowth to me though.)

Like in B/W you have two rivals - one is friendly and the other is competitive. Your rival that is more friendly gives you his/her fully evolved starter Pokemon after you beat the game.

Another professor named Sycamore gives you either Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle.
Even though it shows the player riding on a Gogoat in the new trailer, players can't ride on their own Pokemon. What was shown is just an alternate way of getting around Lumiose City and it only works with Gogoat.

HMs still exist but there's a lot less of them.

Players will be able to see their Pokemon's EVs (probably through the same in-game facility mentioned in the other post).

A new move, Belch, is a Poison-type attack that has a base power of 120. The user must consume a held Berry to perform it.

Draining Kiss is a Fairy-type attack that heals the user for the same amount of damage performed. It has a base power of 60.

If the previously revealed forme of Mewtwo can be said to look roughly similar to Mewtwo's original design, the second supposed form of Mewtwo can be said to look roughly/vaguely similar to Mew's design.

In case you missed our correction the other day, the Starters' final evolutions are Fire/Psychic, Grass/Dark, and Water/Fighting.

I'd say that this alone makes these rumors complete BS, but then again I could see Nintendo doing something strange like that.

Black and White already took that down to five, what else could they take out?

Believable

LOL... no, doesn't make sense at all. O_o

A Psychic-type Pokemon named Espurr (ESP + purr) evolves into Meowstick (Meow + mystic?). (Sounds like Psychic-type cats. Meowstick's name sounds too similar to Meowth to me though.)
Eh, believable, but the names are weird

Last bit? I wouldn't count on it

Another professor named Sycamore gives you either Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle.
What for? Suspicious

Believable, but would be a bummer

HMs still exist but there's a lot less of them.
Believable, and make sense

Players will be able to see their Pokemon's EVs (probably through the same in-game facility mentioned in the other post).
Believable

Believable (and cool)

Draining Kiss is a Fairy-type attack that heals the user for the same amount of damage performed. It has a base power of 60.
Meh, I'm still not quite buying the new type, and was there a draining move this powerful? I think 1/2dmg dealt healed have always been the best... [EDIT] I have looked, and 50%dmg dealt healed is the only healing rate used by ALL the drain moves, and most of these moves have less power

If the previously revealed forme of Mewtwo can be said to look roughly similar to Mewtwo's original design, the second supposed form of Mewtwo can be said to look roughly/vaguely similar to Mew's design.
Eh, still not believing this

In case you missed our correction the other day, the Starters' final evolutions are Fire/Psychic, Grass/Dark, and Water/Fighting.
Believable, make more sense than the non-corrected one. :P

Remember that many things in the other part of this Rumor has been completely true so far, making this info very believeable indeed. The upside-down thing is odd, yes, but we know nothing more about it yet. It may just make a lot of sense later. :P

Even though this is probably just more rumours [all false or mixed into with grains of truth], I'd advise you to start spoiler-tagging these posts soon RMC.

If only to save post and page space.

Some fans may be going on media blackouts now regarding Pokemon XY - make up for spoiling BW info post it's JPN release and do it now for this gen, please?

Agree with Chosenoneknuckles. Anyone way these type of X/Y posts could be placed with a spoiler tag/after the jump?

I like the idea of the upside down to exolve thing. I kind of imagine the pokemons body doesn't have a major change when it evolves, it's just flipped, but it's face and a few details changed.

Pokemon has done things weird before, and Fluidity confirms the rotation thing could happen.

As for Kanto starters, you know you can get Kanto & Hoenn starters in HeartGold/SoulSilver, right? Not unusual.

Yeah, I know, but the Kanto starter were a special promotion in B2W2... Oh well, Yeah, I agree, that one is also believable. And I know the gyroscope thing is possible too... It's just too random, how are we supposed to know we have to do that to evolve it? if it's clearly said, it defeat the purpose of using an obscure evolving method, and it ends up being an useless gimmick used for the sake of using the gyroscope. Bad design, IMHO.

The Inkay tidbit makes me think it's just a fanwish, and I'm still not believing the Fairy-type thing.

@Elfteiroh

Feebas was the only Pokemon to evolve via high Beauty. I am pretty sure the game never implied or told you. It was a gimmick that I'm pretty sure made it impossible to evolve for a while until they made that new scale item.

Likewise, Day/Night was a gimmick as well, which made Espeon/Umbreon impossible to obtain in some 3rd gen because there was no Day/Night or clock system (forget).

Of course it's terrible, but Nintendo (or Game Freak?) love that. And Pokemon always does stupid things you'd never think to do, like Shedinja requiring an empty slot to appear, or how you need a Remoraid with Mantyke for it to turn into Mantine. Shelmet & Karrablast have to be traded with each other specifically to evolve.

So yeah, Nintendo's not beyond making obscure evolutions without telling you. It's also possible the Pokedex could allude to it.

As for the Kanto starters, that was Japan only IIRC. Doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't have them in game.

I mean, these are the guys who made Spiky Eared Pichu for HG/SS and you couldn't even trade it up to Black/White, which is just silly. It literally has no purpose and can't be used again.

Same with how they had Surfing Pikachu and stuff that you can't send up to newer games due to HMs.

They do lots of really dumb things.

But I would imagine they'd do this because:

1. Everyone, not just Japanese or just people who did the event could get it.

2. First 3D main game on handhelds - why not give you the Kanto starters?

EDIT:

Saw this over at PokeBeach's forums:
This is purely speculation, but...

If it turns out that Inkay and Malimar are octopi, I’ve got a possible theory as to why Inkay’s evolution involves turning the 3DS.

This hinges on the fact that traditional octopus fishing in Asia usually involves leaving some kind of earthenware pot or container in the water, and later hauling it up to reveal an octopus inside. Maybe Inkay’s design includes a container, and to get it to evolve you have to turn it upside-down so it falls out?

Theory is that Inkay (Ink, like octopus ink) and Malimar (calamari) are octopi or squid related (with the explanations I put in the parentheses there). The evolution method could be related to octopus fishing, which would make perfect sense for Japan. Less obvious here. I can believe it.

Hahaha, Yeah, for the starters, I already agreed with you. :P
But yeah, I think you have a point for the octopus one. Believable too. :P

There are still some part of the rumor that I think are not quite believable, but you convinced me for these two. Still, for the ultimate confirmation, we can only wait and see. :P

I think you didnt include this, but these rumours come from the guy that guessed Yancham, Elikiteru Gogoat and Fletchings english names before they were announced, nobody can just GUESS that. Id take this "rumour" as, probably 80% of it being a fact, if not all true.
