Animal Crossing: New Leaf - item cloning glitch

I think this might hurt the experience for myself, but if you're into this kind of thing, go right ahead and take advantage!

"What you do is, drop the items off, then the host ends the game. As it saves, [the visitor turns] off the wireless via switch on 3DS. Bam. Duplicated. Cloned."

If someone could do this with Japanese 7/11 DLC and the UK Shaved Ice Lamp, I'd be your best friend.

Interesting reminds me of the PKMN Emerald Cloning Glitch.

There's a specific timing to it.

You have to turn off your wireless one dot before it completes the first full circle spin when saving.

So you should get that Resetti error 1.5-1.75 of the spin.

This happened to me and a buddy, on accident, we got disconnected while it was saving. My fossils I gave him were duplicated, but I lost the ones he gave me >_>.

The items that get duplicated are the ones the VISITOR brings over.

When you do this correctly, the game restores the visitors previous save.
The one just before you visited their town.
The other person however, gets their town saved and keeps whatever you dropped.

This is why they need to make it save AFTER the connection's lost. I hate exploits like this.

Nice. Reminds me of the gold/ silver Pokemon cloning glitch. :)

Duplicating would be even easier if that was the case.

Autosaving, then.

@Waynebrizzle

Personally, I support this solely because people are ridiculous in charging people 2 million bells for a lamp just because it can't be ordered from T&T.

It's FREE DLC. What do you even NEED 2 million bells for?

The main positive I see from this is that prices will crash for rare items and region-exclusive DLC.

Just change your router's name to "_TheCloud" and you can download them yourself.

Lol. Used my golden set as an experiment. Result: I have 2 golden series now. LOL

Yeah, with stuff like that I think it's justified. I may try that router trick someone mentioned above, too. I just hate when people duplicate, say, golden tools or something like that. You know what I'm getting at.

I'm not from UK. I was under the impression it doesn't work in North America. Does it? Almost positive I can NOT do it. But if that's not the case BOY DO I FEEL LIKE A FOOL.

Still doesn't help me get the Shaved Ice Lamp. Pretty sure that's done.

Reminds me of the G/S and Emerald cloning glitch which I abused the heck out of.

@sebba93

Link? I'd like to try that out. It would give me a reason to put City Folk back in the Wii, even if only for a half hour. :P
