Adverts. TV Adverts, I haven't seen any of them on TV, this is why PIKMIN 3 isn't completely selling out.

The Wii sold so well mostly because of marketing and TV adverts.

Come on Nintendo, don't drop the ball again!

I think there are a lot of confused consumers out there who think PIKMIN 3 is just like PIKMIN 2 or 1. Nintendo must demonstrate that PIKMIN 3 is a whole new PIKMIN game, that uses the gamepad in a whole new way!

If only people could understand how important the Wii U is and what a game changer it is, Nintendo wouldn't be in this situation.

People who don't have a Wii U are dumb. Nintendo deserves to have it's current customers represent a larger part of society. A smarter society.

Wait, that's the only bit of it you disagree with? Oh my.

Haha!

That's not the only part. But it is the part that made me put my head in my hands. I'm genuinely hoping it's all sarcasm.

The impression I get is that a lot of people here would generally agree with the statements I made.

well to be honest that is kind of a childish thing to say that people are dumb for not owning a Wii U. I mean what if some of them can't afford it? Perhaps maybe they are waiting for a price drop or maybe they are waiting for a different game that will convince them to buy a Wii U? just saying....

Let's try seeing this from another angle then

"If only people could understand how important the Wii U is and what a game changer it is, Nintendo wouldn't be in this situation."

hmm I have a WiiU, still fail to see the game changing part. Nintendoland showed potential, everything else can be EASILY replicated on any other current gen console (looking for secrets using the gyroscopes on lego city is currently the only third party exception I believe)

...so I am also dumb then.

Nintendo are not like rolex for instance, ie a company that charges premium to its customers, selling a small number of products generating profit due to the large contribution per product. Consoles are sold at a loss (with Nintendo doing the same on the WiiU) and development costs are pushing expected break even sales higher and higher (ok the 5 million break even for dead space 3 is ridiculous but you get the idea) so if you don't understand the above, the video game industry is HEAVILY dependent on the number of sales to make a profit so Nintendo NEED to find a way to attract the dumb as well.

Now on topic, for a severe drought on the WiiU, Pikmin 3 shipment sales are not good. Nintendo overestimated the impact of the series (this is no Luigi's Mansion - this is a more niche game) so once again they need to rely on the big guns this holiday season in order to gain some momentum on the WiiU sale front. BRING ON THE DUMB!

"The impression I get is that a lot of people here would generally agree with the statements I made."

I am going to troll a bit and say "no not really sorry!'

Pikmin 3 does not use the Gamepad in a whole new way, its just the typical Map/Inventory + Off-Tv Play most third party games have done already.

There is a lot of people that cannot understand what a Wii U is, true, but Nintendo hasn't actualy made a game changer yet with the system either. For example, unlike with Wii Sports, most of the minigames on NintendoLand don't feel like they can spawn entire new franchises or clones based on their gameplay, they feel more like a bunch of concept ideas. Consumers are not dumb for not caring, a Wii U cannot be trully aprettiated until you actualy buy one and after using it in your place.

Only in videogames is having some stock to sell seems like it is seen as bad.
