GoNintendo Review - Sumo Emperor

GoNintendo is no stranger to the Sumo lineup of products. Sumo has been at the forefront of...beanbag chair technology?! I don't know what to call it, but the company certainly knows their stuff when it comes to making comfy chairs. They also know very well that gamers are always looking for a nice spot to sit down and soak in the latest games. Don't even try to fool yourself. The chair you play games in can definitely make for a more enjoyable experience!

We've been lucky enough to review multiple Sumo products over the years. If you've read those reviews, you know that I'm really happy with all the products we've been able to test out. I also know that these kind of reviews are very touchy subjects. Some people think we review these chairs so highly simply because we get them in the first place. While it saddens me to see that, I would hope that longtime readers also know that I am 100% honest in my reviews. I'm never swayed by review copies of games, or review products like this instance.

With all that out of the way, it's time to take a look at the latest product from Sumo. We've been checking out the Sumo Emperor at GoNintendo headquarters lately. How does it stack up to the rest of the lineup?

As you can see, the Emperor has a pretty unique look when compared to the rest of the company's lineup. It certainly falls in with the idea of their other 'chairs', but it has a unique style. It's also not one of their bigger offerings, but it no doubt brings a lot of comfy space with it. As you can see in the picture above, two people can snuggle up in this sucker and be quite content.

What's my favorite thing about the Emperor? I don't even know how to explain it, but the texture of the cover on this thing is unlike any other product I've reviewed for Sumo. It's not smooth...it's not rough...it's just so comforting. It keeps you nice and cool when you're sitting it in, and it is extra easy to clean up. You can vacuum this thing like any other piece of furniture. If only I could have you guys feel this thing through the computer!

The other big thing is how the Emperor envelops you. It honestly feels like sitting down in a big hamburger bun. I know that sounds weird, but that's what I kept thinking of! It kind of looks like two buns put together! Just imagine plopping down on a nice, fluffy piece of bread. Or maybe a giant pound cake. Man, with all these weird comparisons, I'm starting to sound like Hideo Kojima!

You'll be happy to know that the Emperor takes up less space than some of the other products that Sumo has out there. I've seen a lot of you guys talk about space issues with these seats. While still a bit big at 55" x 25", it's certainly smaller than other products we've reviewed. If you're looking for a nice size chair to put in a kid's playroom or in the corner of a living room, this should be quite the nice fit.

That's enough of the regular review gushing. That seems like it's a given with Sumo products. What's the real-life praise I can give to this thing? I'll tell you that my regular bed is another Sumo product that I reviewed in the past. One night when a friend came over, they took my usual spot. That meant I had to sleep in bed with Mom Brain. We don't sleep together because she's a HORRIBLE bed hog! I gave it a shot, but an hour in and I just couldn't get comfortable.

I decided I would grab a blanket and head on into my office. That's where I have the Emperor tucked away. It's a nice place to plop down and get some 3DS action in. This time, I curled up into a little ball, covered myself with the blanket and tried to drift off to sleep. Just a few minutes later I woke up and it was morning! I don't know if I was dead tired or the Emperor was really comfortable, but I slept like a baby in that thing!

Speaking of sleeping like a baby, check out this 100% true video of Mom Brain and the Emperor. She had no idea I was filming...

She slept like that for over 2 hours. If that's not proof of the quality of this thing, I don't know what is!

The Sumo Emperor is another entry in a long line of quality products from Sumo. These guys know how to make cozy items to sit/rest/sleep in. If you're looking for some new and unique chairs to populate your house with, I cannot recommend these products enough. The Emperor fits in so well with all the other Sumo products, all while making you hate your other chairs!
