Smash Direct wrap-up

Pokemon X/Y online battle issue being exploited via 'battle analyzer'

- PC is set up as a hotspot
- this will intercept data from the games
- when you click confirm on the battle screen, the program shows the opponents entire party and movesets
- it also displays what moves the opponent chooses during the battle

Obviously, this is going to impact battles in a hugely negative way. Let's hope Nintendo finds a way to squash this homebrew battle analyzer.

Thanks for the info. I don't do online battles that much, but this makes be sick. Putting certain pokemon like Shedinja in can make you invincible.

I didn't mind about the existence of Pokégen and other hacks to get trained pokémon faster at all.
But this? Now THAT is the pure definition of cheating.

oh boy. I just can't wait for people to see what my strategies are while I'm completely oblivious to theirs. -rolls eyes- Wonderful. Might as well just go sell Y.

Too bad, I guess there are lot of "children" out there with no sense of honesty. Its a shame that this happens with Pokemon too, Im familiar with cheaters online in PC games and it makes you sick that people can't even be honest with themself in a videgame, using non-oficial hacks to get things (already ingame) easier.

It's no fun to play if the only thing you want is to win. The challenge itself is supposed to be the reward. Way to ruin it for everyone, cheaters.

Shedinja? Invincible, hell no.
Weather can kill it. Has lots of weaknesses. A lot of things can kill it.

Firstly, why would you even bother using this? Second, why would you even bother MAKING this? Seems like such a waste of time for somebody who, if they can develop something like this, surely has some talent that they could be using much better.

I don't play Pokemon online so none of this affects me, it just irritates me how big of a waste of time this thing is for anybody involved with using it.

Just because you know someone's movesets doesn't mean you'll win.

Meh, Pokémon multiplayer died in 4th gen for me with all these hacker basement-dwellers polluting the game with hacked garbage. This kind of stuff doesn't surprise me considering Game Freak's incompetence, stupiditiy and laziness at designing games.

The series in general is going downhill, not even sure why I bother buying and playing them when I am better off just practising/completing some worthwhile games.

Good thing I play only with friends for battling. I really don't care for losing to complete strangers.

Sadly I am one of those people who play to win and have little fun if I don't however I refuse to cheat to win.

So you're telling me GameFreak is sending the Pokemon and moveset data across the wire in plain text?

Has ANYONE at either GameFreak or Nintendo ever hear about encryption or basic online security practices?

Geez, I'd hate to see how their eShop is set up...

Pretty much this. I will defend people who find it necessary to hack their pokemon to stay competitive and test teams out efficiently, but this is going too far.

Looks like my sleep talking heracross won't be having as much fun this generation as I would have liked.
