Reggie's VGX appearance includes a 'world premiere'

We still don't know if it'll be a new game or not, but at least it should be something we haven't seen yet.

@chozoghost89
Retro has been working on Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze.

So in other words, yes, they could be showing that.

100% agree.

No way a Wii U Zelda game comes out in 2014.

It's going to be either MK8 or Smash Brothers. They need to use this stage to get the viewers interested in their product. That means an on-line component....

Go big or go home. Either an amazing looking new IP, Retro Metroid, or Zelda.

F-Zero would be amazing, but probably not worthy of a big announcement to the "core" gamers.

I could see it being a new Bayonetta 2 trailer. But it's most likely a new Smash Bros. trailer with a new character reveal.

I want everyone to understand something. When Geoff says "World Premiere" that means a game that has not been shown or announced yet. So Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2, MK8, X, or any other game that has been shown off in some capacity or announced officially will not be shown, period. And no, it's not out of the realm of possibility for Zelda U to be released in late 2014 considering it will be at least two years since Skyward Sword has been released. I wouldn't be surprised if they had been working out it even during Skyward Sword late development. The reveal may be Metroid but I kinda doubt it. Perhaps a new IP? I guess we'll find out come sunday night.

That's not correct. World premiere does not mean that it has to be an unannounced game. It could be a world premiere trailer for a game that we've already seen. You're seriously jumping to conclusions.

@ProfWho
Why do people think Retro is making Metroid? Even one that is so far ahead, that it is ready for showing

It can be Miyamotos new game, Retro's other project, the new LoZ for Wii U, SMT x FE, Yarn Yoshi, or their F2P game. Either way, I'm excited.

World premiere showing Donkey playable demo or Smash Bros. playable stage, it could be anything...

Nintendo better deliver, because overhyping @ this stage is going to be really underwhelming... make it happen Nintendo!!!

A word of caution: 'Don't' overhype yourselves, guys; just let things play out as they are. Only then we will know the whole picture.

I'm inclined to agree with Syrek. I don't think Reggie wouldn't bother if it was something that was already shown via Nintendo Direct. World Premiere makes it sound like something totally new that hasn't been announced.

There is no other project from Retro... They're making DKCTF. They do one game at a time, why is this so hard for people to get?

Geoff Keighley alert. He hypes everything to get people to watch. To him, everything from a brand new game to the unveiling of a power-up counts as a "world premiere". I'm not saying it can't be something exciting, but keep expectations in check given the messenger.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Iwata (or was it Miyamoto?) tell the press soon after e3 that they contemplated showing off a Trailer for Zelda Wii U, but decided against it because they didn't want to take away from Wind Waker HD and a Link Between Worlds?? If the game was trailer ready for e3 it is certainly trailer ready for this VGX appearance.

Yeah I don't trust this guy. He's just setting us up for disappointment.

Whatever. It is what it is!

what it should be - Bayonetta 2.. a new trailer loaded with fanfare that shows other areas previously unseen, lots of story stuff, soemthing crazy that gets everyone excited, and a special announcement that the first game is coming before and that if you have the first game you can use the costume from the first game int he second... soemthign like that.... it is the right match for the audience

what everyone wants it to be, but they are misguided - Zelda... I say it is misguided because VGX isn't really for nintendo fans, it is a grab for the non-nintendo gamer... also for those saying it wont be zelda... aonuma and miyamoto both said they could have shown zelda at e3 this year... it doesn't have to come out in 2014 for them to show it either

what I want it to be - X... I think X has the potential to be a final fantasy or even skyrim killer... it should NOT be a niche game... but unfortunately nintendo will likely treat it like one

what it should not be - DKTF or any other game that does not in any way appeal to an audience of gamers eagerly awaiting footage of headshots and characters whispering to eachother in gravely voices over RF headets about taking out the target

what it WILL be - DKTP... because nintendo

Well Iwata DID say that we would see the new Zelda "Soon" and he also said before the year was up... I think it's Zelda.

Indeed, plus the fact that they were gonna show it at E3, and then at Comic Con, so it really feels they have had time to finish a good trailer for this. ^^

Either way, can't wait. Will we be able to see this live somewhere, or something btw? Never really seen anything VGX Before.

This is also why I really believe Zelda Wii U will be shown in some capacity due to the various quotes and the fact that it only seems logical. I understand that this may seem like a big assumption with me saying world premiere means something big or new but the facts are there. I honestly don't believe it will be something we've already seen before. And if I'm wrong than so be it but I honestly cannot think it will be anything else at this point in time. The trailer is already prepared, so why not reveal it at the Spike VGX with a link between worlds already digested by many.

Indeed. We may all be disappointed, but it IS a pretty good chance it will be Zelda for Wii-U, if only a CGI Teaser revealing it's artstyle. It would create some awesome hype, and since this is the only time Nintendo has been in this VGX thing, I feel it has to be something special, and now that Mario is out of the way, Zelda is the big thing.

Could still be some Epic Kart or Smash trailer, but my bets are on Zelda for now. I will accept being disappointed, but it's too late for me not to be very hyped.

An important "world premiere" to Nintendo usually means showing off minor DLC for Animal Crossing or a new dress in that shopping game. And if the world hasnt seen it before that announcement, well then technically its a "world premiere"

I'm hoping for Bayonetta 2, MK8, or that X2 game! Zelda's cool too...just it's Zelda, (yay cue the hype music) but the franchise is getting quite saturated. And I didn't get the system for just one or two games to be amped up while other great titles get passed up or poorly advertised. I get the "flagship" concept but there only seems to be interested in JUST Zelda which just irratates me. When the drones say "All Nintendo has is Mario and Zelda" That's why. Because fans act like that's all there is. Lets start supporting ALL the good games!

Something mentioed but world premiering now?

Well, the new Smash got a lot of character trailers but not a single one game trailer.
You don't how the game's interface or the menĂ¹ so it could be that.

To be shown now that's winter has to be a game coming before summer, in my humble opinion.

World prmiere for me sounds like a new Game! i hope we get to see Zelda U, F-Zero U, Star Fox U, Metroid U. with a bunch of new trailers for X and SMT X FE.

i don't want to see more DK tropical frezze, the game is fine, but we need to see something more.. a new real motivation!
