GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - How do you feel about The Wonderful 101?

End of the week already? Wow, that feels good! Let's get through Friday and enjoy the finer things in life...like friends, family and sleeping! See you in a few, short hours.

The Wonderful 101 is a Wii U-exclusive title from Platinum Games. In a time when the Wii U is really hurting for support, The Wonderful 101 is like a breath of fresh air. This title was tailor-made for the Wii U. I'd say it really utilizes the Wii U GamePad to show off what it can do, better than most of Nintendo's attempts thus far. Unfortunately, it seems that the game isn't finding a market out there.

I'm really struggling to find out what is going on with the game's reception. As an article pointed out earlier today, it seems like the majority of reviewers just can't/won't dedicate the time to really understanding the game. It's not really a blend of genres, but more it's own thing. That makes a real head-scratcher for some people. I have no problem with reviews that pan the game, so long as they really take time to explore the offering. I hope I'm wrong, but it doesn't seem like that's the case.

As I said earlier, it seems like the game can't find a market with gamers either. There are 4 million Wii U owners out there. Surely some of them want to play some unique and interesting games. What is it that's holding those people back from checking out The Wonderful 101? Rentals, purchases, borrowing from friends. What's going on that this game just isn't clicking?

I happen to feel blown away by the title. I find it so unique, so fresh. It has some amazing action sequences. It offers a fantastic challenge that makes me feel great when I learn/master mechanics. I also understand that the experience isn't going to tickle everyone's fancy. That's the way it is with all games, but I thought for sure that TW101 would get more attention.

Have you played the game? What do you think about it? If you haven't played and have no intentions to, give us a heads up on why. I'm not here to tell you you're right/wrong. To each his own, I say. I'm just trying to see where people are coming from.
