GN Version 4.0
Coming from an ONM interview with Rain Games' Peter Wingaard Meldahl...

ONM: There are quite a lot of 2D platformers on Wii U. So do you think it's the puzzles that make Teslagrad stand out?

PWM: The puzzles and magnets of Teslagrad does make it different from most other games on the Wii U. But we have also made some other nontraditional choices. Teslagrad has a narrative trough the entire game, but the story in the game is told without text, and without voice acting. In addition to this we have chosen a visual style that is somewhat different.

In line with this we have only allowed ourselves to take control away from the player twice in the game. Once in the intro scene, and once in the end. There are also no loading screens in Teslagrad, and there is no on-screen GUI [graphical user interface] elements. We hope this keeps distractions from coming between the player and the world of Teslagrad.

ONM: What has your experience of working with Nintendo been like?

PWM: It has been great. Nintendo is really easy to communicate with, and it is no small boon that they have made Unity free to use for compiling for the Wii U. They have even lent us our development kit free of charge. Nintendo was the company that introduced me to videogames and I am happy to know that they are the great people I thought they would be as a kid.

ONM: What next for Rain Games? Would you like to continue making games in this world you've created or do you have ideas for something all-new? Are you going to return to Minute Mayhem?

PWM: We are going to revisit the world of Teslagrad for sure but that does not rule our Minute Mayhem since that game was always in the same universe, but in all likelihood it will be something completely different. Probably not another 2D platformer. We feel it is time for something different. But fear not, the style and the story will follow us.
