Animal Crossing amiibo will work in Happy Home Designer

We all know that Nintendo announced some Animal Crossing amiibo for Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival and a round of Animal Crossing NFC cards for Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. We also know that the amiibo NFC cards work in amiibo Festival, but it seems that the Animal Crossing amiibo will also work in Happy Home Designer. The official Nintendo UK site shows compatibility for the traditional Animal Crossing amiibo in Happy Home Designer, but we're not quite sure if they'll do something different from what the NFC cards offer.
